I saw in the Insider supplemental that the imr 16340 now come rated with 8A max current. Anybody have any experience with these cells? If they are capable of that current (or even just close to it) then that opens up a whole world of options to run e copper heads at max. Albeit for a very short time.

Not that short, check this:

24 min @ 1300

12 min @ 2500

9 min @ 3500

This is 2x16340. Course, 2x18350 fit too and are now rated for 12 amps!

How's 2x16340 compare to 1x17670?

If anyone is interested to see the inside of a E triple, I just took mine apart to swap the optic for a frosted narrow that is drilled for trits.

Also I found the Arisaka tailcap is the perfect for adding a clip to, it also works well with hardpress boots. I first modded a Z68 but the walls were not thick enough for a clip and it does not support (natively) Mcclicky switches.

I always thought it was potted like the Malkoff's

Sorry for the confusion. Potting is marketed as helping with shock but v5 components are already shock proof. And potting protects exposed components, which are often vulnerable because they are mounted on the bottom/outside.

V5 components are all installed on the same PCB with the led, inside the head. We then seal them inside with a pressure fit metal plug - no adhesives required (same with v2/3/4/5 drop ins).

It looks like a piece of QUALITY work. I'm hanging onto my V5.

Yep. The v5 is pretty much the epitome of what a multi-setting drop-in light module can be. I'm not sure there are any other features that could be added at this point that would actually be useful, considering it has only a single-button interface to work with. Adjustable color temperature would be nice, but for that you'd need a control ring.

It really is, I've been trying to find a light I like better and I just keep coming back to my Oveready E-series triple.
