What is the deal with Surefire these days?!
I thought it best to stick with the red, protected 18650 cells surefire themselves include with the light. I also did a function test with 2 123 cells but only once. I was not interested in using them due to the hit to run time and output.- 11Blg

Possibly, but you know the tools are black. Even if they have them I doubt they still have black ones or would be willing to coat new ones for me. Still worth asking I suppose, but not exactly a priority.- 11Blg

I received my warranty product from Surefire. It is a new light still in the package. I opened it and put in a fully charged 18650 and did a function check. This one works as advertised for now.
