Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

Update: There was another special offer on GB, so I bought the Lumintop Tool / Black / Nichia 219 with standard clicky tail. So much for me stating a budget and only wanting the one flashlight, eh? I still don't have any NiMH AAAs or a charger, but that will follow. It's a nice little light for...

    What's with glow-in-the-dark O-rings? (Lumintop)

Yeah, but ambient light typically overwhelms their brightness, so they look un-glowing in the light. It's only when the ambient levels falls enough that the glow can be discerned, hence glow in the dark, 'cause it's gotta be dark enough to see it!

    What's with glow-in-the-dark O-rings? (Lumintop)

It might seem that some folks are reading my original tone as being particularly negative. I don't mean it like that. The light has a GITD O-Ring at the front, but needs 'charging' with light before it glows, and it doesn't glow for all that long. I really am not that fussed by this, and...

    What's with glow-in-the-dark O-rings? (Lumintop)

Well, of course the Lumintop flashlight I have does include 2 O-rings, one on each unscrewable part. These provide the water sealing. Those are black and made of sillicone I guess. However there is another ring, and that sits infront of the glass lens. This one absorbs light when the torch...

    What's with glow-in-the-dark O-rings? (Lumintop)

Energy has to come from somewhere - very true, else all hell would brake loose! I've had different keyfobs and other little plastic/rubber type material toys and these all had a glow in the dark effect. They did not require a pre-charge with strong light. Maybe they had a big enough surface...

    What's with glow-in-the-dark O-rings? (Lumintop)

Hi all, OK, really happy with the Lumintop IYP-365. Something seems strange to me, and yes, I was aware before purchasing, the O-ring at the front of the light is glow-in-the-dark, but requires 'pre-charging' with light firstly. One has to actually use the flashlight, and then the ring will...

Review of Astrolux A01: Pics and Runtime

@KiwiMark: Thank you so much for saving me throwing away a few quid, that I can now spend on chocolate instead. I placed an order for the BLF-348 Nichia on GearBest, and took a gander at BangGood to see what they had, and was going to take a punt on an Astrolux A01. I definitely don't fancy...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

^ Exactly my experience with an incandescent Mini Maglite. Fresh Krypton bulb, fresh good quality Alkalines and the light looked great. Similar story with the newer Xeneon bulbs too, although a whiter and brighter light. It does not take long at all to start running the batteries down and the...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

The IYP 365 I received is around 5000K (as seen in the video), colour rendering is great, the reds are the big area that it's noticeable compared to other LEDs. I compared against what I believed to be a 'neutral' (5400K or 6500K) Xiaomi Mi USB light, and it's pretty clear the Xiaomi which...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

So, I've tested it out walking home in the dark, and it blows the Mini Maglite away. Because the Maglite focus is soo naff, it has to be made to a tight hotspot, and then it needs to be aimed further ahead to spill across the path. The Maglight spill is very low comparatively to it'shot spot...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

I would have liked 2AA better I think, a bit fatter in the hand. Blimey the IYP365 is tiny! I can imagine the Tool and Worm are fiddly with my fat long fingers. I've looked around for comparisons but can't see any images as yet. That's probably because it's not been out long. £35 on...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

Just a quick and dirty video test against the Mini Maglite and a Xiaomi USB desk light. A really nice little light. Thanks to all for the help on this thread and also for all of those who I checked out their resources online, far too many to list! The problem is now that I am fancying a...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

It finally arrived! Fit and finish is nice. Unscrewing the head to take out the included (stickered) Duracells showed a pretty nicely done thread without excessive grinding, there was a little friction, but nothing I would complain about. I shoved in a couple of supermarket own alkalines to try...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

Ach! What has happened to this forum, it looks ugly...EDIT: Actually, it was something stored in the Google Chrome cache that made things look toy town. All is well. I guess, I could break out a multimeter and tin foil and follow HKJ's instructions on testing. I'd shove a couple of NiMHs in...

Maglite 2AA (incan) replacement. Hate ugly LED colour!

Indeed. I have seen HKJ's testing and it's a very useful resource. I am going to start a thread on chargers. I've ruled out the slow chargers >4-5hrs because I don't want to have to set that time aside to be at home and keep a watch every so often. Call me paranoid (I'm not at tinfoil hat...
