Feit Electric Enhance 90 CRI bulbs 6 for $3 at MD Costco and I like them!

I have these. They're unreliable but Feit has been good about replacing them under warranty. They also flicker quite a bit (120Hz), so I can't use them anywhere I'll be for too long. They ended up in closets. Besides the 120Hz flicker, they also flicker very noticeably at a lower frequency if...

Failed Feit 9 watt LED 60 Watt Replacement bulbs.

The damage to D4 appears to have been caused by manual soldering of the black wire. Also notice the bit of unmelted solder stuck next to D8. I believe the failure is related to the black dot on D9, but I spent very little time on failure analysis of this bulb. Unfortunately both failed bulbs...

Failed Feit 9 watt LED 60 Watt Replacement bulbs.

Yes- I've dropped a few pictures here. http://imgur.com/a/ik5Zx These bulbs have LEDs with two different phosphor colors presumably for CRI reasons.

Failed Feit 9 watt LED 60 Watt Replacement bulbs.

I've had bad luck with Feit bulbs. I've had two of the newer smooth ones fail (part# CEOM60 / 927 / 4). They contain a Rubycon LEX series 125*C capacitor but that wasn't the problem. Both failed with a small black dot on one of the orange LEDs.

    GE BrightStik led

Re: GE HD light "Reveal" I just purchased a 2-pack each of the 5000k "refresh" 800lm and 2850k "reveal" 1140lm bulbs. They were $4.97 and $21.97 respectively at a central Iowa Home Depot. I agree that the "reveal" bulbs have a pink tint. It's more than I prefer so they're going back. Color...

What's your favorite high CRI bulbs for home use in 2016?

Thanks for the info- I'll have to look elsewhere to replace a G7 Power Carlin 4000k bulb that recently started flickering at random. G7 Power looks to be out of business so no warranty support...

What's your favorite high CRI bulbs for home use in 2016?

I've now tried the 4-pack of Feit bulbs at $4.89 out the door. My phone's camera shows they have a bit more 120Hz flicker than the older Feit bulbs. They'll be going back or perhaps given to someone who doesn't get bothered by this.

What's your favorite high CRI bulbs for home use in 2016?

I don't like the Costco Feit 3-pack bulbs at all. When they're operating normally I see a very noticeable 120Hz flicker out of the corner of my eye. When there is any kind of power fluctuation at all they flicker and dim dramatically at lower frequencies when older Philips bulbs do not in the...

Philips LED "Basic Bulb": so cheap they sell them in pairs

As discussed above, I'm going to hold Philips to the marketing found online and on the boxes. If one dies I'll file a warranty claim and I won't be happy if they deny it.

Philips LED "Basic Bulb": so cheap they sell them in pairs

Very, very sneaky. They even claim "general purpose" on the front of the box and have nothing at all even hinting of this restriction. The Home Depot online listing even states "Use in table or floor lamps, or anywhere traditional light bulbs are used". Perhaps they changed their mind after...

Philips LED "Basic Bulb": so cheap they sell them in pairs

I was at Home Depot to buy a couple 75W eq. Cree bulbs for an outdoor application next to the garage door. There were 6500k (?!) 100W eq. CFLs installed there when I moved in. One was shattered... needless to say I let that one air out for a while before I returned to clean up the mess. I...

How does the Philips basic bulb diffuser work?

G7 Power bulbs like the Carlin model do the same thing. It's really great. Note that they did it before Philips. :)

    What bad thing will happen?

My understanding is that the lifetime will be decreased. If the electrolytic capacitor(s) don't fail early and take the bulb with it, the LEDs will get dimmer before they would have otherwise. If it were a non-UL bulb in an enclosed fixture (no fuse) I could see certain failures causing a fire...

Philips LED "Basic Bulb": so cheap they sell them in pairs

I have 7 of the 100W eq. bulbs @ 2700k (#455675). I decided to go cheap for now until I can buy variable CCT bulbs for a reasonable price. They were $8.97 each. All work great. They have even light distribution and surprisingly less hum than my Philips 424382 / 429258 bulbs (60W eq). This is...

Ideal color temperature for indoor lighting

Nope. It turns out that these work with SmartThings, and they have an official Windows Phone app. :)
