Thanks all for the suggestions. I spent some time searching ebay and came across a clone of the LED Lenser Neon dive light. It has a toggle switch and is only a few quid so I have ordered one. If it's no good I will look further into the given suggestions.

Price isn't an issue as long as it is easy to use. A button switch under a half inch is a problem also the switch stiffness. A maglite switch isn't too bad in size or positioning and fine using momentary but for constant on it requires a firmer push all the way down which is a problem.

My Grandmother asked me to find a torch to keep beside her bed. As she has very bad Arthritis, this limits the lights that can be easily used.
Twisties are out as are small switches and heavy lights over 2XC cell max. Some sort of glow system for easy finding in the dark would be a bonus...
The IR drop-in units are not too good for anything other than close in flood illumination. I had a 1 and 5 watt version and did not notice a difference but back then I did not look at the emitter to see how many each one had?
I believe cameras use some sort of digital NV? These respond well to...
That's the test I performed PCC. Maglites are much more slippy on the knurling doing it this way. I suppose if you are gripping a light tight the forces are different and the skin must deform into the grooves?
Steve.
As the title says, does knurling make a light more or less grippy?
My very unscientific experiments lead me to believe most knurling reduces surface area and makes for less grip. Unless the knurling is aggressive enough to actually get a mechanical hold on the skin, is it worth doing?

Did cleaning the light not help with the changing modes? I have an old P1d which plays up time to time when twisting for the modes. A clean and lube has always solved the problem.

I have just bought one and it is the 3/60 lumen version. The box it came in had a sticker over the 0.4 number and replaced with a 3.
Cracking little light and a great simple UI. I love that it always comes on in low but with high a small twist away.
I am gonna have to get a few of these and...
Re: Good cheap volt meter?
The one I most use is the tiny one made by Cottonpickers over in the market place... http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?229002-FS-Solar-Powered-amp-USB-Chargers-2-panels-added
It takes up no space, is reliable and easy to use as it has two magnets on...
PD33 UE Ti.... 1000 otf lumens in burst mode, steps down after 3 minutes to 740 lumens, modes of 0.5/3/20/100/300/740/1000 lumens, no blinky modes if you could Fenix.... now we are talking:naughty:

I'm getting a little interested in this light now. But I promised I would not buy another light for a while. But I have been a good boy lately so.....

I like powerful lights that run on lithuim cells but if in a pinch and your away from a charger or source of primaries, are there any 18650/2xcr123a lights that will run off an AA size cell in an adaptor? It wouldn't have to run as before just give out 100 lumens or so in an emergency?
If there...
