Thanks Mr LED. I didn't realise the SC5 range had been discontinued. I thought it was one of their more recent ones! It's a shame because I really liked mine for the short period it was working. You are right about NKON. I baulked slightly at the price €75 and the shipping £13.50 to the UK...
This looks like the place to ask.....
Does anybody know if Zebralight is going out of business? Most of their models are completely unavailable in the UK now. And the situation seems to be similar in the rest of Europe. There seems to be a small amount of stock at NKON but they only deal in...
Well - as an incureable flashaholic I would never go camping with just one torch. Where is the fun in that?! But by far the most useful light is my little Petzl Zipka. A little head torch with a retractable string. It takes virtually no space to pack, the string is cooler than an elasticated...
Ok - this is probably going to seem a silly question. Why would I spend the extra cash to buy a Zebralight rather than (say) a Thrunite or an Olight? And if you were to recommend one model to best demonstrate the benefits of Zebralights which would it be?
Cripes! Good luck with your search! The S1R is one of the most useful lights I've ever owned. I'm struggling to imagine a reason why I (or anyone else) might wish to dispose of one. Perhaps if they bought a special edition and don't like the colour......
Oh... and just to add some further thoughts on the torch - I am delighted with it! It is much smaller than I expected. Actually shorter than some AAA torches I have. And way smaller than any AA torches I own. It has immediately become my EDC torch of choice. It fits in my pocket almost...
Hi Raggie. I got mine about a fortnight ago. Whilst such a small battery is never going to deliver high output AND long run times my experience has been broadly in line with Olights published specs. Also if you let the torch cool down it will provide several bursts of max output on one...
Well the best thrower I have yet encountered (and by best I don't mean most powerful but most practical) is the Thrunite V6 Catapult. Small enough to fit in a largish pocket or slip into a backpack virtually unnoticed or throw it into the glove box of your car and yet capable of putting out a...
It is 11:24 pm. I'm sitting in my garden because it is too hot to sleep in the bedroom. (This is England - heatwave- no ac.) I have brought a couple of torches with me. (Well you would wouldn't you.) I used my brand new Olight S1R II to see my way without tripping or stubbing my toe. What a...
I finally ordered an Olight S1R ll. I have a feeling that this will be my edc light for some time to come.
This follows hot on the heels of the other light I have been meaning to get since I first heard of it - the Thrunite V6 Catapult. I've had that for about a month now and am absolutely...
Well I've just received what I believe to be my ideal keychain flashlight in the post. It is small (about half the length of a AAA flashlight). It's durable (shockproof and waterproof - although I have yet to test this myself), it has ample light (5 lumens on low, 130 lumens on high) and the...
I would think he is going to need a rechargeable light. I would go for the Olight S1R for something to drop in a pocket. Or the Thrunite TC10 for a bit more oomph and throw. Either of these cane be easily charged up while he is sleeping ready for the next watch.
Incidentally I meant to say that I had previously thought Surefires were expensive so to discover manufacturers like HDS and Muyshondt is quite an eye opener!!
Gosh Flashy Bazook! Thank you so much for your interesting (and thorough) explanation of the background to edc. I had clearly not fully understood the edc concept. I guess that is why this forum is so useful to newer members like me. Funnily enough the next torch on my wishlist is actually...
