New Nitecore EA42 - What Do You Think?

I ran Energizer lithium primaries in my EA42 for about a month. They worked well most of the month. Yesterday I was getting unusual operations. I tested the batteries and one was down to 10%. The others were about 40%. So they did work and I was satisfied with the use.

New Nitecore EA42 - What Do You Think?

Thanks. That’s good to know from Nitecore direct. I will use Eneloop Pros most of the time anyway. I just wanted to know if lithium primaries will work.

New Nitecore EA42 - What Do You Think?

I just tried lithium primaries in my EA42 even though the manual says don’t use them. They are doing OK so far after about 10 minutes of use.

New Nitecore EA42 - What Do You Think?

Has anyone tried to use Lithium primaries in this light? I asked Nitecore directly and they said don’t use them. They are unstable. I am afraid to, concerned about that it might damage the light.

Recommend me a high quality durable hand crank powered flashlight.

A couple of problems with this. The alternator does not put out full current at idle. It may only be 20 amps or so. Some cars actually will discharge the battery during idle. Things like day time running lights and electric radiator fan put some load on the battery. You could of course...

Will a "SUPER" lithium battery damage my flashlight?

Please post any products you have that have been damaged by Lithium L92 batteries by Energizer. Only post actual damage reports, not theory.

Will running 2x+ lithium battery lights on Low modes tend to balance the cells?

I think that would be true if they were in parallel. If in series the current is identical with both cells. The only path is through both cells when in series.

    Review: Nitecore EA81: XHP50-led, 8 x AA, max. 2150 lumens, (beam)shots, compare

I noticed that the EA8 has diodes in the end cap between the positive and negative posts. (I speculate this is to protect against some batteries being installed backwards. If you installed two backwards and the others correctly, then you would have a dead short across 4 batteries, hence the...

Any new battery technologies on the horizon?

Why can's batteries use the oxygen in the air? There are concepts out there that do.

    Overview: All eneloop batteries; 2005-2021

Re: Overview: All eneloop batteries; 2005-2013 I recently bought some Eneloop XX cells. I found that they will run my Quark Pro QP2A-X Four Sevens light for one hour and 50 minutes on the highest setting. The older Eneloops would only run for 50 minutes. On the next level down it will run for...

    Eneloop C & D Cells Exposed

I visited a Sanyo factory in Japan about 7 years ago. They showed us a Nimh D cell. It was used in the battery of a Hybrid car. If memory serves me right it was 10 ampere hour. Of course they will have improved them by now. Another comment made by them is that they grade cells into two...

Are there any "real" 2700 mAH NiMH AA batteries?

Describing battery performance is very complex. You must take into consideration the temperature, number of charge/discharge cycles on the battery, how it was charged, what was the discharge current, what was the cutoff voltage during discharge, etc. Most people want a simple answer and with...

    Double and Triple Barrel Flashlights?

The battery manufacturers like to make flashlights that use a lot of cells for obvious reasons. I was told this by a large Japanese battery manufacturer.

    Apple's "new" battery technology??

I was involved in battery powered product development for a few years. What we found was that if the battery was not consumer replaceable, you could leave out some plastic packaging. This means that either the product becomes smaller or you can pack more energy into the battery. There is a...

    New Dorcy Twin Globe Lantern?

I saw one today in Ashland VA at Hanover Tools. It was bright and looked good. $45, and now I am sorry I did not buy one.
