    [Review] Magicshine MOH 35 - Rechargeable 21700-size 4000mAh, 1000 lumens headlamp

Excellent review! Thanks for posting it! Q1: I wonder how many folks would want to wear a 21700 size battery? I think my ZL 18650 is pretty big — an H604c that puts out over 1600 lumen on a 3500 mAh cell. (But it doesn’t do different tints.) Q2: If you’re in the field and you run out of...

    What headlamp on protected 18650s?

Wait, what? I just purchased an H604c and I'm running a protected cell in it...I'm using the Zebralight branded 18650. Works like a charm. Look under Accessories for the ZL635 3500mAh 18650 Protected Li-ion Battery. "Compatible with: All generations of H600/H60x." 67.2mm long. EDIT: Ah. Ships...

Can you recommend a good headlamp.

Tell me about it. I have two ZL H50s from 2007 that show no sign of slowing...and I confess I *like* the vintage rotary battery cap control..."Look ma, no buttons!"

Does the ZL H6XX need the over-the-top strap?

Yeah! I like the idea of wearing a ball cap, instead of a strap. Thank You Mr. Minescence!

Does the ZL H6XX need the over-the-top strap?

So it's not falling down to your ears then, with just the "around" strap.

Does the ZL H6XX need the over-the-top strap?

Interesting. How do you accomplish that? Do you just put on a cap, and then don the headlamp over the cap? Or are you attaching the headlamp to the cap somehow? Do you find the bill of the cap cuts off the lower part of the beam?

Can you recommend a good headlamp.

I would have thought electricians would want the high CRI to better distinguish wire colors? Agreed. Milwaukee makes wonderful cordless tools, but headlamps are a repackaged afterthought for them. I'm an owner, BTW, of the Milwaukee 2352-20, and while it's a nice stick light, I keep...

Does the ZL H6XX need the over-the-top strap?

Just became owner of an H604c, my first 18650 Zebra. Very fine headlamp. It came with the newer "seatbelt" style strap which includes an over-the-top strap in addition to the around-the-head strap. The headlamp weighs 3 oz w/cell. Do most folks leave the over-the-top strap on, or take it off...

I need to upgrade 2D cell Maglite to led

I've been checking the Firefly 2D, it's "factory rated" at 280 lumens but only throws 110 lumens with 2D by Adventure's testing. I keep wondering if that's worth the effort. The other Adventure options are for 3D and over.

I need to upgrade 2D cell Maglite to led

I'm guessing this would not work with a 2D maglite because it needs 4.5V?

I need to upgrade 2D cell Maglite to led

Just found this thread while searching for an LED upgrade for a near mint condition red anodize 2D circa 1990 vintage. I have one small thing to add to this conversation: I do NOT recommend the LudoPam Maglite LED Bulb CREE XP-G3 Upgrade Conversion Kit sold on Amazon. I was suckered by the name...

    Ultralight or Lightweight Neutral 1AA

Thanks for the excellent reply, LD. And a big LOL if I already have the light I'm looking for. (I notice it's no longer available in high CRI or neutral. What's up with that.). Yes, I weighed a zebralight at 1.6 oz with lithium AA and without a strap. With the strap it climbs to 2.4...

    Ultralight or Lightweight Neutral 1AA

"Weighted" toward weight (ha ha) but also need sufficient durability and decent color. If durability is "sufficient" then weight wins. That's how most ultralight gear works -- it is seldom strong or overbuilt, but OTOH it can't fail under normal backpacking rigors. Imagine if you add .1 ounce...

    Ultralight or Lightweight Neutral 1AA

So the Thrunite would be about 1.5 oz, a size up from where I am now. Will see if I can find weight of Eagletac--I like the looks of it, minimalist. The Peak also looks minimalist, may be a contender. Look at how the weight almost doubles when you move from aluminum to stainless steel...

    Ultralight or Lightweight Neutral 1AA

Looking for a lightweight but durable handheld 1AA flashlight to put in my ultralight pack. A compromise beam would be best (neither flood nor throw). Currently using a high-CRI 4Sevens Qmini AA, it's 1.2 oz with a lithium AA. Can I get lighter? The battery by itself is 0.6 oz. My current pick...
