    Brinkmann Maxfire LX/CREE Drop-in + rechargables?

I finally put this combination together myself and I am very pleased with the results (Sooooooo much better than the stock incan bulb). It's very bright, second only to my Ultrastinger but so compact I keep it in my motorcycle tankbag. So far I have not had any issue with overheating or anything...

PJD, Electro.... Thanks for the positive feedback. I've very much appreciated the insight and info I've received from others on this forum, I just wanted to know that I wasn't "spamming" folks with info they didn't care about. Thx again. CC

Suggestions for inexpensive mod for Boy Scout Project?

This was a really cool idea, I printed out the page and my son was very excited about it! The only problem is now, trying to get all the stuff lined up. We went to Radio Shack and picked up most of the stuff. The problem we are having now is finding the right match of LED and resistor. I really...

Best LED flashlight to read with in bed at night?

I did a mini-review of that one. I've used it for reading at night (yes, even after my wife's plaintive "Dear Lord!"...) It worked okay but I would put some tape over it to diffuse the hotspot a little, at arms length it's a bit too focused, even on the low, 2-led setting.

Suggestions for inexpensive mod for Boy Scout Project?

Okay I'll admit it, while this will ultimately be a project for my son to do for Webelos I have been wanting to get into modding some lights. With that out of the way, here are the parameters I am considering; Easy, minimal electrical work. Perhaps some soldering? Readily available battery...

    DealExtreme 8 LED Headlamp ($5) mini-review

No feedback, at all? Hopefully this was not a sucky review or on one unit that no one has interest in. I just used this lamp again tonight and it's really quite nice light, even at the lower settings.

    Surefire ear plugs

+1 here too I've been using mine for my daily motorcycle commute for about a month. They are definitely different than the Laser Lite's I'd been using. They let a lot more wind noise through. At first I thought they didn't work at all but I did some riding with only one in and I could tell...

    DealExtreme 8 LED Headlamp ($5) mini-review

I'm not sure who makes this or if there is any specific model number but I bought this from DealExtreme for $5.05 (shipping included). http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1298 This all came about from this thread where I was looking for something inexpensive for working in the garage...

Good, inexpensive headlamp for garage work?

I just checked the mail after getting home late and it arrived. I'll take some pics this weekend and compare it to some other common lights. Initial impression is that it's a good deal for the money! ($5) I popped some E2 lithiums in it and turned off all the lights. The settings are...
