The pogo pins haven't left any discernible marks on my Sony or Panasonic batteries. No scratching, no denting. The tiny pin springs do their job just fine.

Peering down the tube of mine I see a small spot of red matter, about the size of a pin head, on the bottom at the edge of the retaining ring (next to the pogo pins). It's not gooey, I'm guessing it's some dried Loctite.
