Hey folks,
I just wanted to share a project that i recently completed that i feel you folks may find interesting. How many of you guy's have ever been out camping for a couple of day's, and just wished you had a portable power pack that was powerful enough to run all your gadgets's for a full...
I second the option 4 emitters evenly spaced along the ceiling. However i would use an aluminum strip instead of the mentioned steel. I've built my own under cabinet kitchen lighting using some older Cree 6000k MC-E emitters, and i was really surprised by the amount of light it put's out! Using...

Came across this today. New battery tech could increase your cell phone battery energy storage capacity by 30 x at the same size, or offer same storage capacity at 30 x smaller. Interesting indeed...
This project is actually allot simpler then you may think. I built an LED light strip for my kitchen cabinet about a year ago. I run it all day long during the day with no problems for over a year, and I actually have plants growing under it. I used 4 older Cree mc-e M bin 6000k in series with...
I'm extremely pleased with the new Philips bulbs that i picked up at Home Depot. Be weary of anything else that does not come in the same type of packaging as the one shown in this link, as there are several older versions that were sub par...
This thing looks very much "home made" and i wouldn't spend more then a buck or two on something like this. Crappy "DIY" looking designs like this really don't help much in terms of bringing LED tech into the homes of the average Joe. To put it simply, think of the electric car. Now what are the...
Looks neat, but soo far behind what is possible with today's warm LED tech. You could buy one of those and swap out whatever LED's they got in there for some warm white XML's or XML2's. The lantern body seems similar to the retro one i modded (see link below) and achieved over 1000 lumens with...
My best advice, don't buy a driver until you've decided exactly what you need especially if your using it on house current as an appliance. If you need to think of way's to dump excess current or heat to accomodate a particular driver into your project then you are going about it backwards...
When it came to modding my lantern i figured i was going to commit to doing it one way or another, so i just yanked that sucker out! I actually broke up part of the circuit board while trying to figure out how to remove it from the lantern. But what i found was that there is tonnes of room...
That was exactly my thought. I always have an emergency power pack/car booster handy with built in AC inverter and DC cigarette lighter socket, one in the home, and one in the car when camping. So a 12v cig lighter jack into this would be an ideal power backup with insanely long run times. Not...
Thanks for that Lynx! Had no idea this feature was already built into standard DC Jack, found some that will work this way and have them on order now. :-)
