Why are flashlights so interesting? Why are LED flashlights a hobby?

I started collecting flashlights when early in my thirties and now in my forties I'm still spending far more than I should on them. Luckily I have a very understanding wife and two little girls who are already showing early signs of being enamoured of flashlights. Never really considered why I...

How Often to You Read This LED Forum

Not as often as I used to, got another baby on the way so trying to save up my pennies - although I've just browsed selfbuilt's excellent Outdoor Beamshots thread and my juices are flowing again. I guess the new baby can always wear bin bags...

    Eagletac or Fenix ?

You're quite right - must remember not to post whilst under the influence... :drunk:

    Eagletac or Fenix ?

Welcome to the forums :welcome: - be prepared to say goodbye to your money :grin2: I have the fenix LD20 and can confirm that is very reliable indeed with the rechargeable AA's I feed it with. The Q5 is a "warmer" tint that looks nice but doesn't throw quite as far as the "cooler" tint (more...

Are any one cell lights regulated?

Protected 18650 batteries cut off at approx. 2.7 - 2.75 v to protect the battery - running below 3.6 v is fine. A lot of the "decent" torches don't have full regulation in 1x18650 configuration, including fenix and jetbeam models to mention just 2.

CATAPULT OWNERS PLEASE READ - Potential Serious Problem - **SOLVED**

Major design flaw methinks - was about to get one of these to add to my recently bought TK40 and M2XC4 but after looking at those photos I'll be looking elsewhere - thanks for posting them and I feel your pain.

    Whats like a TK40 ?

I think if you tried the eagletac you would be pleasantly surprised by the amount of useable side spill ;) The batteries were high capacity 2700's and were charged on a fast charger so you may be right that it made them defective, although they registered the same charge as the others when...

    Whats like a TK40 ?

Having bought a TK40 and an eagletac M2XC4 cool white led in the last few weeks I can say that the eagletac trumps the TK40 on many levels. The beam throws a LOT further with a still very useful side spill. It feels more balanced in the hand and the rotary switch is a much better method IMHO...

    Central UK Get Together 2007/8

Same here, but still keen on the get-together (bright torches and beer essential) :D

    Run-Time Plot - CMG Reactor

These newbies don't know how lucky they are with their fancy "Q5 I can hit a barn door at 300 yards and the beam is pure white" posh torches. :D

    Fenix T1 Comparison Review

Amazing - I've been pondering which of these 3 torches to get, and lo and behold you produce comparitive size AND beamshot photos! Mere words can't express my delight - get yourself over to Scotland and the drinks are on me!!! :santa::drunk:

    Run-Time Plot - CMG Reactor

Way to go digging up an OLD thread!!! ;) I remember having one of these and showing it off to my mates - would love to track it down wherever it's hiding in my house now - I'm sure I'd love the feeble sickly green glimmer it gives out compared to my P4's and cree's!!!

    Central UK Get Together 2007/8

Definitely up for it - would have to be before march as my fiancee is due to give birth around the 10th - as much as I love torches, I don't think she'd appreciate it if I left her holding the baby....

Is there ever get togethers in the UK?

I like the idea of all of us uk torch-nuts meeting up to compare torches (and maybe sinking a few beers :) ) I really don't mind where we meet as it will be a long drive for me from Scotland anyway.
