I've had a keen interest in small flashlights since I was a small kid, reading in bed with an EverReady penlight. I remember being astonished by just how good maglites were in the early nineties (the first good quality lights that were readily available, almost everything else was plastic). I was equally astonished by the first white LED lights which surpassed the solitaire for runtime, brightness and even build quality. I don't buy many lights by flashaholic standards but every few years I hunt for the best available lights in the pocket/keyring type. In early 2012 I dipped back into CPF after losing focus on flashlights for a few years and oh my, haven't things changed since I bought my last arc luxeon!
My perfect light is small (no bigger than a mag solitaire), at least as bright as a decent 2aa Incan, and enclosed in a durable minimalist body. No plastic, no rubber switchgear and no tacky machining!

I don't collect flashlights, I just happen to own rather a lot of them. Honest.
