what do you think of this 4w LED bike light?

Thanks for the experienced comments. One thing, though: [ QUOTE ] turbodog said: For what it's worth, heat buildup is very little even with poor heatsinking. There's so much airflow that it makes up for it. [/ QUOTE ] It seems like the emitter and batteries share their heat in an insulated...

what do you think of this 4w LED bike light?

Found a review: http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2005/reviews/light_and_motion_vega The bezel is aluminum, and the body is (rugged) plastic. I'm sort of surprised that no one has noticed dimming yet, as the internal thermal control doesn't look so good (the Lux star is attached to...

Cateye Luxeon III rechargable bicycle light

[ QUOTE ] traillight said: I'm thinking about getting it but I have heard some bad things about the reliability of other high powered Luxeon light systems like the Extreme Light from the UK. [/ QUOTE ] Do you know why they fail? The emitters and electronics should be much more robust...

    Bike light beam patterns.

I modified a cheap halogen bike light with two LuxIIIs side-by-side and Fraen-LP optics. The stock diffuser helps merge the beams and spread the pattern out a little. There's a lot of wasted spill, but it is useful by being visible to drivers without being intense enough to dazzle them. I found...

Off-the-shelf head for Fraen 3x 3W bike light?

Re: Off-the-shelf head for Fraen 3x 3W bike light I have a TriStar (not Phazer) head that's set up as a bike headlight. It seems pretty weatherproof, but not waterproof. I'll post more information in a few days, or maybe next weekend if you're still looking.

    E2e and E2D lenses

Re: E2e and E2D lenses Search for E2+. It's the name that was eventually given to this mod. The E2d lens is concave on the inside, which allows a little longer bulb. I'm not sure if the extra space is enough to completely remove the need for the o-ring spacer. I have a recent E2d head with a...

First Alpeh Purchase, Need Some Advise...

Re: First Aleph Purchase, Need Some Advise... Aleph 1 or 2 will be compatible with the Light Engine that you have. The PR-T needs the LE components (Lux and driver board) permanently installed. You'll probably find the A-2 more useful unless you need medium-range throw a lot. X1 tint tends...

    IPod requires USB 2.0?

My ALI card works on a number of devices (memory card reader, some 1.1 stuff, Archos 20GB V2, wireless adapter, PDA), but not on the iPod. But yes, get a card that works for everything. I have an extra slot, so it's still in my computer.

    Mini-review, Snow Peak titanium spork

I tried metal chopsticks once at a friend's place. They had rings grooved into the tips, but they didn't grip very well, possibly because the other side was too slick. I seem to remember clicking them against my teeth and being annoyed.
