Looking for a flashlight to check 30' to 50' into water reservoirs

I'm not sure I have seen a flashlight with high color rendering and such tremendous output, but I'll try to folow this thread, hopefully learn something new.

Gauging Interest for titanium VME heads

I do wonder the same, will there be a body for it too? Because a Ti VME head is cool and all, but without a matching body I'd have no use for it ):

    18650's Care and Maintenance

CR123s usually designed to be stored and to work down to -40 C/F, as per the datasheet of an Energizer shows too: While the li-ions ( Sony VTC6 in this example ) is NOT meant to be used/charged in the cold: No, they are fine with that, see above. It will actually discharge at a lower...

    18650's Care and Maintenance

it's interesting to hear you have issues with CR123s, maybe you're not using the right brand...? never heard of good quality CR123s cause issues. Also streamlight lights are usually pretty good, so I don't it's the light that is the issue. One thing to add, li-ions also don't like being stored...

    18650's Care and Maintenance

in short, not well... electric cars have batterypack heaters for a reason, and the reason is that li-ion cells don't really like the freezing weather. Anywhere below freezing you should use frost resistant cells like the molicel P28A, but for just leaving it in the car I think you really should...

    Best Battery Tester

those measure absolute voltage, so if you measure a 1.2V battery it will always measure it as more depleted if it's not... also I can echo what was said before, buy a decent multimeter and just be done with it. A more budget version is the UNI-T UT210E, a more professional one would be an IDEAL...

    Dual fuel emergency light

oh shoot, you're right! I totally blanked with this too, I even have mine primed and ready with a CR123! It's the stainless version with the limited run herbs and spices, namely the Nichia 219b they had ( NVLS219BT-V1 4000K D200 L2 R9080 ). I've swapped the QTC around, so the tailswitch now...

Headlamp? Why do I need a headlamp?

just to add a bit of variety to the options, most trekkers/hikers I've seen ( and a few marshals ) use either a Petzl or Black Diamond headlamp. personally I like the Black Diamond Spot 350, it's very light, dead simple UI, and it has three different light modes: flood, spot and red, where you...

UK vs US use of imperial measures

inches, stirctly. Never even heard of a metric tire size. Same goes for plumbing, for water lines it's 3/8" for faucets and such, 1/2" basically anywhere else and 3/4" for hoses ( but for wastewater it's always mm, 40mm for basins and such, 50mm for tub drains ).

UK vs US use of imperial measures

just to add to the UK - US metrics, when you do electrical, it's sometimes AWG, sometimes mm² ( 16 AWG or 1.5 wire ), but at least in both countries the use of conduit ( which is also pretty standard elsewhere ) is basically non-existent if it's not a surface mount

    Leaking IKEA Ladda AAA 900

just to add one more theory, the contacts of the toy could have been made from something that is prone to corrosion so in reality the contacts went and while oxidizing they rusted the batteries. I had something similar happen in a different application, where a lagscrew was made out of prime...
