Been away for five years and have not bought any new flashlights. Well I'm lying. A Fenix E35UE just arrived yesterday. I like it. Things have changed in 5 years - 900 lumen flashlights for $40 and 1800 lumen flashlights for just over $100.
Anyway I have a Fenix LD01 and want another one but...
If there is enough interest I will provide all build details on this. It is fairly easy. I will also provide free of charge one of the materials needed to do this to anyone interested. You only need less than 1 square foot of it but I had to buy 60 square feet so I have tons left over.
As far...
You are probably right but I felt that the homemade section mostly deals with flashlights. I reaaly could not decide where it belonged. If it needs to be moved so be it.
Well I have been laid off from work for the last 5 months. I got sick of doing projects around the house so I decided I got to do something fun - something to do with electronics and LED's. Here is what I came up with. My pictures do not do this thing any justice. It simply refuses to have a...
OK. Best I can do on the pics.
Here is the hallway. This is definetely a little overexposed. Its not that bright at 2mA. I kept the current low because I did not want the light spilling into the bedroom at night. It is more than enough light to navigate the hallway at night.
And here...
I have used some of these flux led's for lighting a couple of dark hallways and stairways. I think mine were made by Optek and they are all consistent color. I mounted them about 1 inch above the baseboards by drilling 4 tiny holes that match the footprint of the flux package and then pressing...
Excellent advice there. I have :poof:'ed many a LED in the fashion you describe even with my adjustable current supply. What causes the failure though is not so much the time it takes for the supply to respond but the size of the supply output capacitor. The cap dumps its charge into the LED...
Nitecore D10: 89mm x 19mm or 3.5in x 0.75in (length x diameter)
Fenix L1d: 3.8 in(L) x 0.8 in(D) or 9.7cm(L) x 2.1cm(D)
Well I guess that might be a noticeable difference in size but not significant. I'll have to get a nitecore D10 and see them in person. I got to see what all this piston...
My question came out wrong. I cant believe I actually typed that since I have the L2D Q5. I just did not understand why he said it was to big. Someone point me to a significantly smaller single AA light - Fenix or not.
And why?
This may be premature for me since as I dont have any T series yet but a TK11 is on the way. I have a feeling it won't be my favorite simply because of the price.
I do have some E's, L's and P's. Tough choice. Narrowing it down the LD01 is adorable and impressive. It even seriously...
