I have several lights that I regularly charge from 2 computers. I don't have an S1R, but you should have no problems. I have, on occasion had the computer message me that too many amps are drawn from the USB port with some devices. That is rare, but it can happen.
I installed illuminated switches in all of the rooms in my house about 25 years ago. They are all still working. I find them convenient even though I usually have a small flashlight in hand for night time navigation around the house. Don't remember the brand. They were a nice, simple addition to...
I found the problem with my Opus charger. I'd planned on discarding it, but put it in a drawer instead. A couple of weeks ago I got it out and played with it. I cleaned the metal tracks with isopropyl alcohol and then Dexoit. I've had not further problem with it. I use it almost every day for...
Mountain Electronics is a magical place where great things happen! I'e ordered a bunch of things from them and have had excellent service in each case.
(See my reply above. There is no problem with the Opus. By design it correctly refuses to charge an overdischarged cell because generally this is not safe to do. Any charger that does charge overdischarged cells should be rejected if you take seriously safety matters (and you should since Li-ion...
I’ve had a similar experience with my Opus charger and my Xtar VC4 charger…. Not for the level of charge, but failing to charge in the Opus at all, but will charge in the Xtar without problem. Cannot explain it. I’ve tried improving the Opus connectors with small magnets, cleaning with...
I agree about the temperature controlled soldering station. I've had a bunch of 'soldering irons' since I was a kid. After I bought a jbc soldering station my soldering world changed! The jbc heats quickly, holds the programmable temperature, and 'sleeps' when the iron is replaced in the holder...
All good ideas that have worked for me in the past. I'd suggest trying a known good drop-in to test the switch. You could also remove the switch and bridge the body to the negative end of the battery. If the switch is bad try tightening it.... I suspect the switch is good, but the contact...
Malkoff lights come with legendary reliability. Customer service (should you ever have a problem) is excellent. Lumen numbers are accurate! Malkoff flashlights are built to be reliable tools that will get the job done. The Malkoff lights I have all use 18650 batteries....
For lights that see regular use I prefer to change out the batteries and charge them in a multi-cell charger. That way I can keep going. The only usb rechargeable light I have is used as a work light and is placed on charge when the job is done. I may not use it again for several days or more.
All good suggestions! My favorite penlight is the Klarus P20. It has a 219 LED with memory. You can choose HML, turn it off, and after 3 seconds it will come back on at the last level. I generally keep it on high during daylight hours and on low at night around the house.... The P20 is easy to...
I have several AAA penlights and I carry the Klarus P20 24/7 because of its 219 LED and its user interface. It has HML with memory. I generally keep it on high during daylight hours and on low during the evening hours. The level is easily changed with a partial click.... The high is brighter...
The ship's store and the naval exchange probably sell AA batteries. I would suggest starting with a penlight. Most sailors work/sleep all of the time. There would be some time that could be spent with hobbies, but.... since submarines stay underwater for long periods something simple would seem...
When I was in the Navy personal flashlights were never a problem. Didn't need them much --- plenty of light was available. But.... the Navy was very concerned about anyone plugging into the ship's power supply to get electricity because there could be a fire or electrocution problem because of...
