    Backyard flooder

With high output, the flashlight manufacturers need to address the heat issue by material and by electronics. The stepping down business is their solution to active cooling. You can always build your own water-cooled flashlight :D http://www.instructables.com/id/Water-Cooled-LED-Flashlight/ or...

    Is Fenix still alive?

That requires a lot more research than I am capable of doing. One would need to produce a list of major flashlight manufacturers and know their sales numbers and profits in 2016. In terms of qualitative analysis, one would have to research seller ratings. Consumers can search for Amazon product...

[Review] Nitecore HC33 Headlamp ... 1.8k lumen + mag tail cap + batt indicatior

Very nice review. It's like the thrower version of the Olight H2R. H2R is a flooder.

    Is Fenix still alive?

They are still on the scene. In fact, the TK 75 will be released this month. https://www.fenix-store.com/newest-products/. They are also active on Twitter https://twitter.com/fenixstore1. As for leaders in the field, I don't think Fenix is up there.

Headlamps are a great idea in theory but never worked for me

Specialized headlamps do have limited use. I have both the Olight H1R and H2R flashlights. Both came with head straps so that you could use them as head lamps. I find them very useful for walking around the house at night and doing things w/o bothering anyone :p One of the most rewarding uses...

Olight H2R Nova Quick Review (New Improved Tailcap Available Now! See post #32)

Re: Olight H2R Nova Quick Review Thanks for the information about the tailcap. Olight has a really cool method to cover the USB port of the X7R; twist tail to review USB port. If they can do that for these magnetic charging system, then that could solve the issue. Just don't make the batteries...

    Flashlight review question

Hello, Are reviews without technical data accepted here? I don't have the expertise that experienced reviewers here have, so my reviews contain my thoughts (pros and cons), suggestions for improvements, pictures/videos, comparisons, etc. No graphs and no validation on lumens. Rofis R1 in...

Throw vs Flood - why no in between?

You could get a thrower that has a diffuser cap included or after market. Fenix, for example is one company with those caps. The Olight HS2 is a 400 lumen head lamp that can switch between a thrower and a flooder, but at 400 lumens...don't expect much in terms of distance :-)

    *new* Olight H2R Pro headlamp

Re: Where are they going? I have both the H1R and the H2R in neutral white. I enjoy both, but the H1R is definitely more fun. The H2R at turbo mode gets very hot fast. I can't put my finger right up the head for more than a few seconds before it gets too hot. I'm tempting to try cooking an egg...
