    1500W LED Flashlight, >100.000 Lumen, >1Mcd

Re: 1.5kW handheld LED Power, >100k Lumen, >1Mcd, Good job! I do wonder about ventilation and heat. I see a fan in one of your photos, but I see not vent holes in the unit. Is there a fan to help cool this beast, or is it all passive? By the way, bare aluminum dissipates very little heat via...

Custom made see through (Acrylic) Flashlight Build Finished! (Picture Heavy)

Holy cow! Congratulations. What a beautiful light! Your design looks awesome, and your assembly work seems to be top notch. So, how much current are you putting through the XML-2? And, why the unprotected battery? Protection circuitry not a plus? Good job! Jeff

    LED cover lens

I have noticed a high failure rate with LEDs that I have covered with glass, when I used 5-minute epoxy to glue the lens to the heatsink. This made a very small cavity for the LED to live, and I think gasses from the epoxy caused the failures once the LED + heatsink got hot. Are you using...

Unique pictures please! Weird customs only, No sleeper or stock flashlights!

Not many like this one: 3 Rebel-ES driven at 1.25a with 17mm IMS reflectors for about 1000 lumens, and 6 Rebel-ES as floodlight or navigation light for up to 2000 lumens. Fan cooled, 3 18650's for power, hand-made enclosure. The pushbuttons on the side allow for 4 levels for each light. Jeff O.

    DIY LED Driver

Hey Illum, nice find on the On Semi regulator! I had not seen this one. Looks good :-) $3.06 at DigiKey in smal quantity. My favorite On-Semi distributor, Future Electronics, does not have this part! Cheers, Jeff

    C6 Aurora XML build

I love this light! And putting the parts together yourself is the way to go. I see you got the uber-good 3050ma driver, too. I have every day carried this light for about a year now, in a belt holder. Got my DIY kit from dealextreme, my 5000K neutral XML from Newark Electronics, and my 2.8 amp...

Help. where to start if i want to build flashlight for photography? Which LED?

Philips makes good LED's with high CRI in their Rebel series. Here is a high-CRI LED light I made for photography: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?279082-Homemade-15-emitter-high-CRI-Rebel-LED-flood-light-with-red-and-cyan-boost Perhaps you can find some idea or inspiration...

Energizer Advanced Lithium cells - FAIL

Hey I think I know what this is. Here at work we go through hundreds of AA cells in our hand held keypads, used for voting. When I have to replace batteries (2 AA per keypad), the most common failure is just as you have described - one cell at near 0 volts, the other cell is just fine. The...

Turning copper into a black body emissive radiator?

I have kitchen under cabinet LED lights on aluminum trim channel. I used 2 coats of a Sanford Sharpie to make a 1" diameter circle of black, and let it dry. Also painted one portion with high-temperature black spray paint, made to paint a gas grill. 2 Luxeon Rebels running at 900ma heat up this...
