I am a retired weld inspector inspecting truck frame welds for Chrysler. Used my Surefire Peacekeeper daily as it offered a white beam with no artifacts or rings.
My Pila IBC must be fifteen years old now but is working like it was new. It might not have the bells and whistles of the new stuff, but I could care less.
Fastech confirmed my last battery order on 1-3-15 and the package arrived in a Detroit, MI suburb two days ago. Not sure what the delay was caused by. Maybe U.S. customs or Homeland Security, who knows. The Fastech tracking link via Honk Kong Post never worked. But they always seem to arrive.

The Surefire P1R Peacekeeper will run on one 18650 or two lithium primaries. The 18650 and a charger comes with the light when purchased. There are two models to choose from. A single output or dual output which is 600/15 lumens.

In my opinion, the stated accuracy spec. in the manual of .8% +/-5 counts isn't sufficiently narrow enough to ensure that your batteries will not be overcharged. Maybe with the use of an appropriate voltage reference standard this meter would be ok. It sure has a lot of features. Good luck in...
Re: Where to find a single 17670 or 18650 battery case for carrying a spare in pocket
I carry my spare 18650 in a plastic case designed to hold a roll of nickels. Cost me fifty cents at my local coin store.

I too am a weld inspector. Inspecting Jeep Wrangler frame assembly welds. I'm currently using a Malkoff MD2 with a M-60 module. It's perfect for what I do, although I'm going to get an M-61 soon which will be even better.

I'd vote for my EDC - a Malkoff MD2/M61/hi lo switch. Several battery choices, nice size, great beam, made by people in the USA who really care about their customers.

I'm not sure if this belongs in the B/S/T forum or not so here goes. Does anyone that owns a Protek digital multimeter have a source for alligator clips that will properly fit these leads? Please either PM or e-mail me if you do.
Thank you,

Re: Why Does My PILA only Charge to 4.17 volts?
My Pila IBC charges very consistently to the same 4.16/4.17V. I believe this is perfect as it will give me a few more charge/discharge cycles thereby extending the battery life a bit.

An excellent resource for all of us, thank you very much HKJ. One question though. Is there a way to make current draw measurements on a light such as the Malkoff MD2, which has no removable tailcap.

...or they have holes in their sox. Or, he could stick his foot in a cow's rear and walk off with the hide! Or...I'd better stop, I'm probably already in trouble. SORRY! ( heard that one years ago on The Tonight Show. I think it was George Gobel).
