Looking for 9V snap connector power cable

You might have more luck searching Digikey or Mouser for these - I know I saw some molded plastic ones that encapsulate the wires and should withstand more use and abuse. The RatShack ones can be reinforced with some epoxy or RTV silicone injected into the plastic enclosure, as long as you wipe...

    PEU E-Series Helix Body

Lookin' good with the glow-poxy! I like the carbon fiber inner idea, but agree that you wouldn't see much of it. But what if a clear plastic tube was bonded in? The aluminum would protect it, so the tube could be pretty thin, and could be epoxied in at both ends to seal the light. The loaded...

What to do with my Fenix LD01 - I got a green tint too !!!

I don't know for sure how Fenix placed the emitter in the LD01, but when I swapped the greeny in my P2D, it was just thermal-glued to the heatsink, with wires soldered to the top contacts of the Cree. It made for a very simple swap - the heatsink has a pedestal and "moat" design that centers the...

    Good source for graph paper?

Well, printing your own might seem expensive, but compared to the search for decent graph paper, especially loose-leaf, it might save you enough time to be worth it. It's what I do. http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/ has a number of template generators that should let you experiment with...

    Cree XR-E P4 to Q5 upgrade

Well, I modded my Fenix P2D, with a presumed P4 greenie, to an R2-WG, and there's a definite difference. Here's some basic beamshots: The left is a 2008 Olight T15 on high, the right is the Fenix on Turbo. P4 on top, R2 on the bottom. So, I'd say the Q5 might be worth it, but an R2 is noticeable.

Rural mailbox vandalism solution - 300 lb mailbox?

I love reading all the solutions people come up with. I suppose it's a good thing more vandals don't have access to shaped charges... We never had problems keeping our mailbox in place, but some idiots would spraypaint an arrow on the side every hunting season. One of the drawbacks of living on...

MAGLITE Internal parts (from what model is this part)

Interesting - I opened up a 2-cell module and used it with a Seoul P4 and Litemania heatsink. Brighter than stock, with much better heat transfer. I never noticed the 3-letter groups on the board, though. Would you believe JMW is my initials? If I had noticed, you can bet I'd have made...

    My bicycle was stolen :(

That sucks, Sam. It goes without saying, file a police report - you never know. My nice bikes come inside when I'm not riding them, and my commuter looks kind of fugly, and still gets 2 locks. I know it won't stop a determined thief, but I'll make them work for it.

Surely someone makes an AA powered P60 host?

Just some thoughts: A side-by-side with 2 cells per stack would work, but bodies would take more machining. Tubes are easier than double-bored oblongs, not to mention the threading issues you'd have. Not that it can't be done, and done well (I'm thinking of the SPY). A 4-cell, single stack can...

Best LED for a P2D Mod

With the smooth reflector, the Cree R2 is probably the easiest replacement. While you have the head open, you might just need to play with the height of the Cree in relation to the reflector. I have a P2D-CE (quite a greenie, but that's beside the point) with a smooth reflector that's got a...
