Petzl Tikka XP - where art thou?

I just received my Pixa 3 as a replacement for my Tikka XP... I am still in the test and compare phase but here are my 2 days worth of impressions... 1. Both the Tikka XP and the Pixa 3 need a little Scotch Tape to eliminate beam artifacts... The beam cleans up very nicely with that mod. 2. The...

    Makita 18V LXT batteries....

I have successfully repaired a Makita LXT 3 AH pack by replacing the dead cells with good cells from a donor pack. The battery memory chip prevents the pack from being charged from a Makita charger but you can use a charger that terminates at 21vdc. I took my repaired pack to Makita's...

New HL from Petzl: Pixa series

Here is a runtime post from a UK Caving site.. OUR OWN TESTS USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF BATTERY: NiMh Rechargeable AA Batteries: (Energizer 2500mAh) Usable Light: 11h:00m Ran for 10h:25m on the middle 40 lumen setting before there was any noticable drop in output, which is considerably longer...

Dropped an Eneloop in a glass of water: Bad?

I have had my RC Boat sink for 5 min +.. After a few days of drying out everything worked fine (Radio, Batteries). I did not have a baseline on the cells to see if they lost capacity though..

    DC/DC convertor for the Grass...

I have come across a Ryobi 18v Drill Speed Control… The P75NF Mosfet bolted to the heat sink is rated for 75v and 75 Amps. If the 36v(max) LM5642 Switching Regulator posted by Mdocod is any indication of what may be controlling the Ryobi Speed Control then can I assume that I can directly...

Can I recharge tab batteries with my Maha charger?

You can charge the cells individually while still in the pack.. When necessary, I have a set of alligator clips for my Maha C777 that I clip on to each individual battery and charge the whole pack one cell at a time..

cheap NiMH cell for my son's toys

Low Self Discharge is the key.. I had 1000ma NiCd's in the majority of the kids toys but if they don't work after a month of storage the kids just grab some alkaline's from my wife's battery box.. Eneloops have made us all happier!..

    DC/DC convertor for the Grass...

Very interesting...Seems like we are getting close. I already have a IRFS250 20Amp Mosfet from an old servo amplifier.. http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/53035/FAIRCHILD/IRFS250.html But I also am at a loss for the fine details.. j:)

    DC/DC convertor for the Grass...

I know this is off the subject of lights but I don’t know where else there is such a deep well of DC/DC convertor knowledge on the net.. I have a Milwaukee 28v battery pack that I am using with my 18v Black and Decker Blower...

Price check on Petzl Tikka XP Headlamp

I think you are correct.. NO regulation.. but pretty close with Rechargables..

    Tikka XP 4 x 2/3 AAA Mod..

I have noticed NO degradation so far.. but this is purely subjective. This light is my primary around the house light.. In the DARK it is bright enough on low and that is where I usually run it. When there is some ambient light around and my pupils contract I run it on medium (<1watt)...

    Tikka XP 4 x 2/3 AAA Mod..

From the picture that Cave Dave posted it looks like the LED can be accessed through the Brown and Red wires.. I have not done this.. I do not know what LED the Tikka XP uses. The 4 x 2/3 AAA NiMh batteries are rated at 350mah . After full charge the voltage and current draw at the...
