    Small Portable Radio's?

Typical. I just noticed the other day that Eton snuck in a new version of the Field model radio. They added Bluetooth capability to it. grrrr! You'll notice it's called the Field BT and has a pair function added on the buttons 110 bucks on Amazon.

    Small Portable Radio's?

I have the Skywave and latest model of the Eton/Grundig Field radio. It's good to have a couple around handy, but to be perfectly honest, I'm leaning more these days towards your way of thinking with the smartphone/bluetooth speaker/headphones. There's just so many now dumping the shortwave...

    Small Portable Radio's?

Just received an Eton Field 550. Used to have an S350DL but sold to a friend. Got to missing that form factor and the larger size for better sound and AM/shortwave reception compared to the few handheld/pocketable radios I have around. The separation of bass and treble seems more pronounced on...

    Small Portable Radio's?

C Crane Skywave. It does AM/FM, weatherband with SAME Alert and even a few shortwave bands. Runs on AAs or Mini (not micro, the mini connector which is larger) USB. It can also charge rechargeable AAs through the unit itself, but only when it's powered off, not while playing. Mine was over 100...

    Bluetooth speaker suggestions

If it's going to just sit in an area, get the Blackweb Rumbletek. I have one and it's great for the money. It has next/previous track buttons, play/pause and will do speakerphone as well. It uses a wall wart and not USB to charge/power the unit., but with it in your office it will be fine...

    Small Portable Radio's?

I've had one for a few weeks now and currently listening to it. Happy with its performance for its given size. Anything in particular you wanted to know?

    Small Portable Radio's?

LOL Funny you should mention that. A Uniden 980SSB CB radio (with weather channels and PA too!) is just how I decided to solve my wants for SSB. Welcome back! haha Mine's currently on order. Here's one in action:

    Small Portable Radio's?

I'd reordered the Skywave and it arrived today. Similar in size to a Kaito WRX911 except the Skywave is a touch longer lengthwise with the body plus the tuning knob, while the WRX911 is a bit thicker in the body. Sound is on par with the WRX911 and CC Pocket radios. I understand this was geared...

    Small Portable Radio's?

The Kaito KA210 would fit your needs. AM/FM and NOAA weather bands (No alert functions, however) and DSP tuning. Takes 2XAA, has headphone jack, telescopic antenna, external speaker and will fit in a shirt pocket. There's also a KA200 model that looks alike, but it has no weather band, so be...

    Small Portable Radio's?

I went ahead and cancelled my reserve of the Skywave for the time being. They said it would be December 5th before they'll receive any shipments. I'll check in next year on it after some reviews come in. I picked up a Sony SRF-59 in the meantime. Like the 1xAA operation aspect of it. Less...

    Small Portable Radio's?

Still no contact from C Crane regarding the Skywave. Guess the Halloween estimated reserve orders got pushed to Dec 5th also. If they push again beyond that date I'm just going to cancel.

    Small Portable Radio's?

None of that makes a bit of difference to me or even comes into play when listening, for me anyways. However, the 15 hours less of runtime a set of batteries gets on a dsp tuned radio vs.a true analog does. Until/if/when they shutdown the analog signal in the U.S., I hope the manufacturers still...

    Small Portable Radio's?

I noticed on the C Crane website that they state the Solar Observer has analog tuning w/ DSP. Are all radios leaning towards this unfortunate battery-sucking feature for just some audio improvement? ( I personally was just fine with AM/FM as it's been for decades. :shrugs:)

    Small Portable Radio's?

Now the batteries are too low to run the analog Kaito WRX911, so now I have one of those batteries powering a red Gerber Infinty. Lol Think I may need a Dead, Deader and Deadest box to separate batteries that still have some useful juice left.

And now 15 hours later, those dead batteries are still going strong. I don't think I like DSP tuning very much. At least not in a pocket radio you take around with you.
