LED with uniform light as direct backlight

Thank you very much, it looks interesting, I will read more about it. My feeling is that there is light loss as with any diffuser. Having a uniform Light Emitting Surface (LES) would eliminate any diffuser and subsequent light loss. Is there a limit on the size of the LES?

LED with uniform light as direct backlight

I would like to know if there are any LEDs with approximate size of 1in x 1in that produce uniform light over the entire die area? I got some COB LEDs but I realized that only part of the die produces light. Here is an example of a COB LED The purpose is to use the LED as the direct backlight...

    Help driving Nichia NC4W LED

I am trying to drive a Nichia LED, the NC4W rated at 13.6V and 1A. My supply is either a pack of 4 18650 cells in series (16V) or a DC DC boost converter rated at 100W. I tried a couple of drivers starting from basic DX 26110(link is external) and KD 2982(link is external). These are buck...

Experiment: can an aspherical lense be substituted with a Fresnel lense?

I am trying to do the same thing. Are you sure the glow around the LED image is from light reflecting off the heatsink or from the limitation of the fresnel lens to collimate the light?

Help finding or making PCB for Nichia LEDs

Hi, I am getting some new LEDs from Nichia, NC2W170B and NC3W121A. Unfortunately they don’t have any PCBs to send me. I looked online for PCBs but I could not find anything. Do you have any idea if I can make custom PCBs for the above LEDs or even easier if I can use compatible PCBs from other...

    Kaidomain exotic apsheric lens?

I came upon this item on Kaidomain http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S005336 It raves about the aspheric, it is supposed to be an exotic one with anti-reflective coating and 47mm effective diameter. Has anyone tried the lens and is it really “exotic” and very good quality? Any lux...

    Bushnell HD Torch...

Yes but the beam is very different from the square beams of the CREE LED's projected with an aspheric. Does it use a CREE LED or other brand LED?

Tiablo and Crelant Ashperic Cheap Alternatives?

I am looking for a good quality aspheric lens with very clear and crisp focus so that even the wires of the LED can be seen. The diameter of the lens should be larger than 50mm. The reference lens for quality that I own is the one for Jax-Z1 flashlight but that lens has en effective diameter of...

    CAT100 - a cat food can thrower (100kcd)

I am building a thrower and I am interested in a lens with a very nice and clean focus with no flood and a clear LED projection (so that you can see emitter wires for example). I am currently using the lens from the Jax-Z1 flashlight (about 39 mm effective diameter) and it is great in terms of...

Modded MTE H8-1A with Circular Beam

Has anyone taken a lux measurement on the MTE flashlight? I wonder if the round beam is more intense than the plain aspheric lenses?

    Modifying shape of LED emitter?

So you using some sort of insulating non conductive spray paint would not cause parts of the phosphor layer to become inactive?

    Modifying shape of LED emitter?

If I wanted to modify the shape of a dedomed LED emitter like a XM-L2 from a square shape to a circular shape could I place a mask over the emitter and spray some non conductive paint over it? I am not sure how LED emitter work but I was wondering if some non-conductive material would block part...
