Video / wide light based on LED emitter "cake"?

Interesting video! I've ordered one 100W module. It is going to be interesting to try it like in these videos. As they are so cheap it is likely something dodgy like this going on.

Video / wide light based on LED emitter "cake"?

Right, What is your experience of these COB, used any? I am thinking that it would be good to use units with a Vf close(-ish) to the battery U around 12V. Many COB in the high power range seem to be 36V or twice that. /O

Video / wide light based on LED emitter "cake"?

True, you would have to expect random quality. What is a good source otherwise for big high power video emitters? What are the candiate viddeo emitters anyway? For example looking at a random selected commercial light light-for-me red star. It is using a compact 200W emitter that looks...

Video / wide light based on LED emitter "cake"?

Hi all! What are the pros and cons of using a composite emitter for a general wide light for video and photo background lightning? For example DX has heaps of variants from 10 -100W. I was thinking about just making an aluminium puck with a recess for the emitter and an O-ring grove and a...

nice looking and cheap. whats the catch?

Modifying dive light for video/photography with lens.

There are a few threads on the video light topic. There is another thread where a three-emitter light is modified by removing reflectors and moving the emitters closer to the glass. Could a single emitter light be modified by replacing the reflector with a defocused lens? I'm thinking...

    Multi emitter video light?

Hi Packhorse, Any luck with the V11 testing? I've seen the Archeon, however I think they seems to be altogether a much more expensive alternative. I know too little of them to say whether they are a premium brand that are worth the price, but there are premium brands at comparable prices (could...

    Hi-Max X9 review

Hi, I appreciate that beam distribution is really hard to judge and measure, but what beam angle would you say this light is? You say you manage to illuminate well using your 14mm (28mm equiv). Also, did you manage to review the larger sibling light to this one? Cheers/O

Tiny aluminium host for laser pointer?

Thanks, 330307 seems practical with some flat surfaces to mount on. Otherwise 162540 is even cheaper at $11, however it does seem to lack flat surfaces to mount on, Also, these are clickety switches which should be wothless underwater as they push...

    Videolight desgin - PWM dimming?

I am pretty sure the project you mention is this one: The incredibly well preserved Swedish Mars wreck of 1564 This is A 4,5kW ligthing rig. Does anyone have pictures of the actual rig? http://www.oceandiscovery.org/?q=node/68

    Videolight desgin - PWM dimming?

I could imagine that serious commercial video lights would use proportional current limitation instead of PWM at least for low powers. Then there would be no issue with flickering, but the sacrifice is reduced efficency and more heat (ok at low power) Is this correct? /O

    Videolight desgin - PWM dimming?

A typical cheapo dimming light is PWM modulated with some frequency, and the on-part of the cycle can be quite low. I think these will cause some side effects when interfering with the shutterspeed (actually frequency) of the camera. Anyone here with experience how to control the power on...

What about those HI-Max X11 and X9, any sites or suppliers Packhorse? Cheers /O

Tiny aluminium host for laser pointer?

Ah thanks, however the application seems to be more of 1W laser sabres than my needs to project a 20mW red dot. What's the smallest metal dive waterproof light to be found? Rgds /O

Tiny aluminium host for laser pointer?

I would like to make a couple of waterproof laser pointers to be used as underwater measure by providing a parallel beam pattern on the subject I am filming. I've raised this before here some years ago, however i think the market of hosts may have evolved since. I'm looking for a cheap slim...
