Tips for not hurting yourself with tools

Another dumb one: I was trying to start my neighbor's POS lawn mower that was equiped with a POS pull-cord that had no T-handle. I pull nice and hard, pull-cord unwinds nicely about 2/3 the way out, then cord and engine come all to a screeching halt but hand/fingers on cord keep going... All...

Why was this topic closed, "Should we go to war? "

I just love reading articulate post's in the Cafe (esp like Gun Nut's and Silviron's). This is a great forum for intellectual expression that I don't usually find. Thanks for your viewpoints!

Bad trigger switch on Vector 3M

After getting no help at all from Vector when they learned the light was a few months out of warranty, I called back and talked to a different "Customer no-Service" person. They finally agreed to send me a replacement switch. I installed it and took the opportunity to remove that pesky yellow...

    ARC AAA knurling too sharp

Its sandpaper finish scrapes and wears everything that it comes into contact with- keys, knives, pocket lining, teeth. This is the biggest detraction for me on what is an otherwise really excellent light. I wish the knurling were more like you'd see on ratchet wrenches- coarse and not sharp.

    4AA to 1D adapter?

The 8AA adapter above would have been nominal 12v device for 2D flashlights. It sounds like it might not be so good for alkalines. Maybe a 6v 8AA adapter (wired ala Surge) that I could drop into some old 2D flashlights (with new bulbs) would be more practical? Pat

    4AA to 1D adapter?

I think I can build an AA adapter rather like this. It is actually a single 8AA-2D adapter, though. Once it was done, are there some really neat/bright/easy uses of this in a 2D flashlight? Would this adapter be of any real use?? If I could not get a light a lot brighter than my Legend LX, I...

Bad trigger switch on Vector 3M

I bought a Vector "Mega Sport Spot" 3 Million CP in June of 2002 at Target. Now the trigger switch is getting balky. I can't find my spotlight's original papers and can't determine how long the lights warranty is (Target warranty is 90days), nor who can I determine who to contact for warranty...

    Spray Can Haters Club

Why can't manufacturers of lubes like silicone spray come up with an applicator that can meter out their product in a small volume and with a low velocity instead of the high volume and high velocity??? I mean really, how often have you ever needed to coat several square inches or square feet...

Why I like the DIM flashlights (Sometimes!)!

I like the dimmer settings on my Photon3 for getting around the dark bedroom. It is surprising how LITTLE light you can get by with sometimes. I also use it with the same setting in my darkroom at work. Pat
