best non rechargable battery for aa zebralight

That is really odd. I never would've thought that lithium primaries would produce less light. I mean, it's not much difference, but it is noticeable. Any idea why this is? I mean a brand new Energizer Ultimate lithium AA cell reads at 1.8V and I consider them dead at 1.25V. So this updates my...

    Opus bt-c3100 v2.2 discharge cutoff for 18650's

I have two DMM and one analog one. Both the DMM's seem to have a display update rate of perhaps 0.5-1.0 second, which I assume is adequate. Any idea what the display update rate is on the Opus BT C-3100?

    Opus bt-c3100 v2.2 discharge cutoff for 18650's

Ah, that is good to know! Forgive the rookie question, but if I understand you correctly, by "connect a DMM", you mean to connect a multimeter to the cell while it is in the charger slot while the cell is being charged/discharged?

    Thrunite TH20 question

My most recent dumpster dive wasn't as fruitful. I came home with several NiMH cells, a couple C size (since I don't currently own any of those), a few AAA and several AA. Testing through them all, the two C cells are only about 1200mAh after the Opus "refresh" cycle and most of the AA's tested...

Safe to test voltage and IR of L91 in Opus BT C-3100 v2.2?

Thanks for the link. Much of it is over my head, but I do get the idea that there is quite a lot involved in testing IR. All the photos are quite helpful, even though I doubt I will ever learn enough to understand how to use the setup you've made. I think I'll stick with the less-accurate method...

Safe to test voltage and IR of L91 in Opus BT C-3100 v2.2?

Yeah, i've heard about the flakiness of IR testing in chargers. I see the SkyRC M3000 has two external probes for testing IR, which I assume is far superior to the method the Opus uses. That tester you showed looks handy, but I don't think I can justify such an expense yet! The tip about IR...

    Opus bt-c3100 v2.2 discharge cutoff for 18650's

I kept an eye on the charger the last few times. When the mA dropped to 0 for li-ion, the voltage would be about 3.4-3.5. Within a few hours, it would rise up to 3.5-3.6. But this is no where near the 2.8v spec of the charger (unprotected 14500). I do not have any unprotected 18650's to try this...

Safe to test voltage and IR of L91 in Opus BT C-3100 v2.2?

I've been dumpster-diving my local recycle center, pulling out L91 lithium primary AA's and various NiMH cells. What I've been doing is using my multi-meter to measure voltage of the L91's. Some read as fresh at 1.8v, most are 1.6-1.7v. For the NiMH, I first see if I can get a reading for...

    Thrunite TH20 question

As a tangent, I may have purchased my last L91. No, I haven't stopped using them, as their lightweight and high capacity is unmatched so far. My local recycle center accepts batteries, any kind, you can just drop 'em off in a bucket. I put on some gloves and started picking through them. Got a...

    Better buys than Petzl Tikkina?

I bought a TH20 a few months ago. The moment I turned it on (we had snow on the ground at the time), I was in love with the tint. It was warm/yellowish, which I love. If I shine it close up on a white wall, yes, I can see a greenish tint as well. But for all other practical uses, it just has a...

    Opus bt-c3100 v2.2 discharge cutoff for 18650's

I'm not sure my Opus BT C-3100 v2.2 is working correctly. I discharged a protected 14500 and it only discharged to 3.48v before ending the discharge cycle. Three times it did this, ending somewhere between 3.48 and 3.6 So I tried again with a high-discharge unprotected 14500. Same results. All...

New H53c AA Headlamp Neutral White High CRI!

Been reading CPF for a while now, FTP. Such a rich community in the search for the perfect lamps! After purchasing the Thrunite TH20 and loving it, I got the "bug" and now want a Zebralight. My main reasons are: the ZL is much lighter and it's far more efficient. Apparently the TH20 is only...
