    USB2BYK experience

I've just ordered a USB2BYK from http://eurecart.free.fr/. The site is in French but Google translation makes sense and I've read a number of reviews by cyclists. I'm wondering if anyone here has used one and how you set it up. Cost to Australia was just under $50. A fraction of the price of...

    Carbide insert lathe tooling

I've been remiss in acknowleding the help I got here directing me to Curt's inserts. I cannot believe how much better my tiny lathe works with these beauties. Peter

I'd like to solder *videos added*

Re: I'd like to solder This thread has been really useful. Amazing how you forget little things which keep you on the ball. I second the use of a variable temp iron. I think it was one of the biggest contributors to improving my soldering performance. I'd really like a lead on teflon...

    XM-L Reflectors & Optics

I have just put together a couple of XMLs (t6 IIRC) using Fraen optics in my standard bike light set up. Centre weighting is still good and there is a fair amount of spill (which I want for seeing the side of the road etc). Just powered through my original FluPic boards the difference between...

    Review: The NiteFLUX RedZone 4

Are you sure about this? I thought I read recently that the majority of reported bicycle accidents in Oz were "hit from behind"". Happy to be wrong. Peter

    Internal threading tools and cutters

The couple of recent threads discussing external threads have helped me a great deal. After several years of frustrating results I've had a really good run with it this weekend. After a very careful adjust and clean up of my mnini lathe even my internal threads are working better, but I am...

    Tool recommendations?

G'day Curtis An order will be forthcoming! Regarding your concerns about "trade" involvement on forums. I value it. On each of the forums I am on (cycling and lighting mainly) I have been helped out generously by people in the trade. Putting it upfront as you have done is good. Updating...

    Tool recommendations?

Thanks Ed. I have a mate in Denver who has helped this way too. It's just a little more cumbersome. Peter

Emergency light for Christchurch relatives - brainstorm ideas wanted.

Folks, I would really appreciate your ideas. My wife's family are all OK but without power, water or sewage and their houses are badly damaged. Grandma is a bit over candle-lit dinners. I've built lots of bike lights over the years and have stock of Luxeon IIIs. I'm tinking I'd like...

    Lithium primary to Australia

I'm in Melbourne and have bought 4sevens direct from them on 3 occassions. No problems at all. Both rechargeables and normal CR123s. Even if you had to pay duty it would be heaps cheaper than the rip off prices we pay normally here. Peter
