Dark Sucks: Research Poll- what do you want to see?

Oh yeah Alpha ICE V3 (aluminum) also needs to come back. Just make it an Alpha Custom (as opposed to time intensive Blue Label) and it shouldn't be more work for Jason.

Dark Sucks: Research Poll- what do you want to see?

I'd like to see two new products from Jason: A headlamp. Everything I see on the market has issues - lack out output, poor UI, shoddy build quality, not waterproof, lousy beam pattern, uncomfortable, heavy, unbalanced, ugly... I know Jason could address all of these issues. Keep the light as...

Sold/Expired WTB: Haiku XM-L or Prometheus Alpha ICE

These are some of my favorites and I'd like to get one very soon for my brother. PM me with price.

    Titanium

The original post said "Only the so-called “superalloys” of steel have greater ultimate yield strength than the titanium alloys". This is confusing yield strength (the point where materials transition from elastic to plastic strain) and ultimate strength (the highest point on a stress-strain...

Dark Sucks: Research Poll- what do you want to see?

It would be awesome if Blue Label lights had thicker sapphire lenses or at least thicker glass lenses.

What Headlamp would be comparable to the toughness of an HDS Systems EDC

The only dedicated dive headlamp I have ever seen is the Vizion made by Underwater Kinetics. This is only good for 10m water depth. With all of the great, well engineered, and highly waterproof flashlights (such as Dark Sucks), why are headlamps so far behind? Absolutely none are on par with...

    Any long lasting bright headlamps?

Going through the headlamp sub-forum more and more it looks like there is nothing available that meets your (or my) requirements. I am wondering why the custom light makers on CPF and CPF Marketplace do not make headlamps.

Surefire Maximus, Minimus AA, Minimus Tactical and Minimus Vision!

I haven't seen much mention of the Maximus' integral rechargeable battery. I don't see the logic with this design. When the battery dies you need to replace your headlamp with a fresh one instead of a fresh battery. That's a deal breaker for me. That and the no so great 1m waterproof rating.

Surefire Maximus, Minimus AA, Minimus Tactical and Minimus Vision!

No, magnesium is a poor choice. Magnesium when compared to aluminum is weaker, more prone to corrosion, less thermally conductive, and can not be hard anodized. Anodizing converts the surface of aluminum to aluminum oxide, which is very hard and wear resistant. Magnesium does not perform this...

What Headlamp would be comparable to the toughness of an HDS Systems EDC

I agree with garbman and driver. No headlamp is built as tough as the HDS. Apparently no headlamp maker takes waterproofing seriously. The mighty Surefire is good for all of 1.0m. One is such a small number. It's hard for most people to think of a number smaller than one. Maybe headlamp...

Are many of the older, standard headlamp brands making outdated/overpriced headlamps?

I completely agree with the original post. I was at REI yesterday to look at headlamps. Even "high end" models like the Petzl Ultra Belt Accu 4 look and feel like toys. It's not even waterproof. I guess with a low low price of $500 they could not find a way to waterproof it. Do you suppose...

FEELER: Dark Sucks, Carbon Fiber bodied Alpha

This resembles your I.C.E concept which I like so much. Any chance that could be made for regular production? It would be simpler than dealing with CF.

    Titanium Anodizing

From what you have shown above, this is my favorite by far. I am also a fan of the textured anodizing like this. Any chance this could be done? If not I would gladly go with the option above for my 44DD.

Any interest in raw, un-plated lights?

Have you ever considered using a nickel boron coating? This is an EN coating that is much harder than phosphorus nickel. Nickel boron is popular in the firearms industry.
