    Hurry up new Quarks!

If they are worried about that then they should restrict the L head to 6V, not 8.4V. Anyways, it follows the general theme of making things idiot proof these days... and why things like a stick shift in a car are disappearing.

    Hurry up new Quarks!

Deal breaker for me, I love the old Quark's 10ish-X mode spacing (0.3/3/30/300) esp. in the programmable Click model. Set-up my HDS and Click nearly identically - 4 mode, 10x spacing, mode memory, moonlight/low toggle. Except the old Quarks are way more energy efficient (w/ my low lumen usage)...

Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output Thanks Gurdy... haven't bought a new light for a few years, just got excited with a new Grail light I recently lego'd from old stuff. We've had this conversation before, but these two MDCs pictured above...

Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output The L10 low should be good for ~50 hrs on a 2000ma Eneloop, mine uses <40ma of current. 150 lumen-hrs on a regular Eneloop is pretty typical/good for 3lms. I also found its 'firefly' too dim to be useful and...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output Thank you Arch and Gurdy... much appreciated.

Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output Yup, correct... and this is just at sub-lumen levels where efficiency tends to vary widely since the driver overhead tends to represent a larger proportion of the power consumption. At low and medium...

Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output Hey Arch, The pix was from the moonlight test I ran back in Jan '14, but it was done on another forum privately in the PMs (it's still there if you are interested). Never posted it publicly due to lack of...

Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output...

Re: Current "Best" single AA light, favoring KISS and long runtimes over high output The El Cap did very well (?**) in my [old] side-by-side moonlight runtime test ** I think... but hard to be sure as QTC output tends to yo-yo, esp. at low lows.

You only can have 2 flashlights which one do you choose ?

Thanks, I appreciate it - just made a 'new' grail light out of old parts... things get obsolete slower when your into night vision/low lumens :). Quarks are one of the rare birds that were designed to be modular/Lego system lights with 4 different swappable battery tubes (single/double AA/CR123...

You only can have 2 flashlights which one do you choose ?

It's polished titanium - the shell is from their special runs pre-2010. The engine is a low voltage (1-4.2v) programmable 1st gen Click series lego'd with the Ti shell. I have it programmed like my HDS - as 4 mode with ~10x mode spacing (0.4/3/25/250lms), mode memory, and moonlight/low toggle...

This pair (my EDC) as I'm into low lumens with extreme: efficiency, runtime, and battery versatility.

The 4Sevens and Foursevens Picture and Random Question Thread?

Haha, good rotation... but the details are there? It's the low voltage Quark Click (1st gen) engine/XPG2/reflector lego'd into an old Ti 123^2 shell - straight plug-n-play once you break the thread lock in the heads. She's programmed like my HDS clicky with 4 modes; ~0.4/3/25/250 mode...
