Quest for a "Wall of Light"

To my knowledge a single 18650 can run a MCE or P7 at full power for about one hour. Seems a short runtime for entering caves.

    -Dive Light Project-

I have seen people cutting up and gluing maglites with epoxy for divelights but this is the real stuff. It looks good. All tips I can give to you are: A driver might be the best underwater but if you want to try without a driver then you could use 3 NiMH D-cells in direct drive for about 2...

    Sold/Expired Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run (Closed)

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run Download, Do you know if a dropin exists that fits in a minimag and has the opposite of a boost driver? So a minimag compatible dropin that takes 4 - 6 volts input from the battery?

    'Big' Flashlight using D-Cell Advice.

Search the forums. A good start for a maglite modification is called ROP. A rop low can run on alkalines. The real thing is to use six rechargeable D-cells and then use the ROP high bulb. If you done that there are other mods too. Incans, LED's, ... D-cells are hot now P7 and sst-50 and sst-90...

    Recommend a AA pocket spotlight?

You need to be more specific. What is the size of those street addresses and the distance from your vehicle? Generally I would buy a 2AA light, those are available around 200 lumens and should be good.

Quark AA2 - Neutral White Outdoor Beamshots

It amazes me that in beamshots the spot width can differ so much. I would have expected cool white/ neutral/ warm white to have the same beam characteristic.

Leightweight 1AA emergency/ first aid light

Thanks everyone for the heaps of great advice. I think the Quark mini AA might be a good choice. But perhaps better in warm white instead of in neutral white, and with a lithium battery. My second choice would be the Petzl E+Lite even though it is no AA light. I had never seen the clever...

Leightweight 1AA emergency/ first aid light

I am looking for a very lightweight flashlight to use in an emergency (backpack loss)/ primary light failure/ accident situation. The light will be used as first aid lamp from cleaning wounds to stitching and worse. Also the light needs to be usable to hike out in darkness and therefore needs to...

    Sold/Expired Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run (Closed)

Re: Mini-Maglite AA Drop-in kit - 2nd Run I have a rare 4 (four) x AA minimaglite. Would a Warm White version work in that one too? Is there also information on: - price - floody or more throw - approximate lumens

When do you see a noticable Difference in Lumens - Need a light for Police work

N/Apower, The encounter with a cop which you described, polite and with good light handling, never shining in your face, is what would make me respect the cop and really listen to him.

When do you see a noticable Difference in Lumens - Need a light for Police work

Anyone? I am surprised ther are several cops who think strobing people in the face in a daily routine is good but do not dare to answer this question. Personally I like a (strong, no strobe) light for chasing perpetrators. Gives me a good overview of the situation when there is too little...

When do you see a noticable Difference in Lumens - Need a light for Police work

I think that you agree with me that there are non-lethal methods among the ones that you describe that could be called intimidating if used or even threatened with. I am curious where you draw the line. If a cop wants to make people "uncomfy" on a regular basis I would call that out of line...

When do you see a noticable Difference in Lumens - Need a light for Police work

When people do not listen to police there is a bad attitude. A flashlight is a tool. You cannot improve attitude by intimidating people on a structural basis with a tool. You can easily go up to 6,000 lumens with a strobe. But I would call shining ANY strobe into someones face police brutality...

Where are the Varapower 2000 beamshots?

That is good news as that means LSD batteries can be used (to their full potential)
