What flashlight do you keep in your vehicle?

In my city cars, random aaa/aa EDCs. Don't use a light much. I do a lot of overlanding, few days to few weeks deep in BC bush country. In my bush truck or Jeep: - fenix pd41 or ML150 Mag for daily use, nothing fancy, just need some throw - 6D with Malkoff dropin. Doubles as defense against...

    Mag-Tac LED new from Mag-Lite...

I'm guessing it's being delayed simply because Mag-Tac is low on their priority list. Really, how many people from the Maglite customer pool will buy a light like this, when they find out batteries are $17.99 for a pack of two? The actual flasholic market is too small and already too cluttered...

    Fenix TK-70

Thanks for the reply, Samgab. Do you know for sure that 4 AAs won't fit end to end within the 3D tube? I'm sure curious how much room is inside the tailcap.

Is Dry 3xXML worth a thorough review?

It's good news to hear that Turbo pulls 4 amps instead of the advertised 5a. 2100, I believe you said unless in freezing ambient with airflow, 5amp would actually make an XM-L dimmer than 3-4amp? Anyone know if the 5000K NW is better or worse than the CW for taking high amps? Ideally, I'd like...

Is Dry 3xXML worth a thorough review?

I've just recently decided to purchase this instead of the TK70, as I doubt I need continuous 2000+ lm. The TK70 form factor is too big. I'm thinking of the new 4 mode driver (lo-med-hi-turo), and a NW 5000K (called T4 I believe?). Anyone have experience with this new driver? Is it really...

    Fenix TK-70

Thanks a bunch for the feedback, 2100 and Samgab. I was going to order off Ebay, but I'll be emailing HKequipment for sure. Looks like the TK70 is no bigger than the Mag body. I could barely squeeze 4 Eneloops across, if the wrapper ends don't touch. With higher capacity cells, I had to re-wrap...

    Fenix TK-70

Saw some discussions regarding AA cells at the beginning of the thread, but I want a unique setup, and hoping someone can help me out. I want to cram in 16 eneloops into the 3 cell tube, 4s-4p format. Someone mentioned that 4 eneloops happen to just squeeze into the tube, can someone confirm...

    Need to break-in Eneloop ?

BatteryCharger, While not a battery expert myself by any means, I am however, an engineer (ME) and have worked in an OEM in the past. Just want to tell you that the recommendations you see on products or manuals usually has little to do with what the engineers actually say or would LIKE to...

Is There An LED Light That Can Compete W/The Surefire M6 HOLA?

Funny, three years ago people said the exact same thing about a P90, back when an inefficient LuxV was the best an LED could offer... I personally feel the days of USEFUL high power incans are pretty much over (no, a 12,000 lm, 5 min light is not useful). The quad-die LEDs are pretty much at...

    Fenix TK40

I can almost be certain that rating is for alkalines. Otherwise it won't make sense to have a 185 lm, 2aa light run 2+ hrs, yet a 630 lm, 8aa light run 1 hr. Unless the MC-E has less than 50% the efficiency of the Q5. With Eneloops I'm expecting 2 solid hours, and 2.5 hrs with freshly charged...

ROP or M3 or... ? Bump in the night/outdoors.

Personally, I don't see the point of an M3 / M6 type of light unless you really are a SWAT member or part of the Special Forces, where all expenses are paid for. I wouldn't trust my safety / security solely on a light no matter how good it is. I hope I didn't just open up a can of worms... My...

    C cells in a D cell m*g thoughts please

You won't gain anything, and you'll loose some $$$ considering C and D cells are the same price, but C cells have less than half the capacity.

Either typo, or they're trying to be ultra-creative with words, Shakespeare style. i.e. "All the world's a stage"

    Fenix TK40

So what does that light have to do with the TK40? Am I missing something here? That having been said, it'll be nice if Fenix can crank up the output on the TK40 a little, unless that 630 lm is already torch lumens. With 8 nimh cells, I don't see why 700+ lumens can be a problem.

Wouldn't 3x18650s be way too fat for a body designed for 4xAAs? So I'll assume that'll be a different body all together, as the length would also be too long for a 18650 cell? For now, I just want to use my soldered 8AA Eneloop pack that normally sits inside my 35W Mag. I don't use that incan...
