Real comparison LD01 vs Maratac AAA

When you reach my age, time and spacial relationships have a way of getting confused. I carried an LD01 aluminum prior to the SS coming out then gave it to my son-in-law where he uses it as his primary back packing light, for which there was a very long thread a few months ago. Sabre...

Real comparison LD01 vs Maratac AAA

Batman, I'm a little confused, you refer to your LD10 which is a single AA Fenix light with a clickie and twist head. Do you mean the LD01 AAA twistie? Simple mistake. Anyway, you make good points, especially about the reversable clip for hat use (which I do with my LD01).

Real comparison LD01 vs Maratac AAA

I agree on several points. In my comparison both the LD01 and Maratac are running with 10440's and their highs are pretty much equal except the LD01 has an artifact in the middle of the beam which annoys me somewhat. The SS LD01 is a beautiful light and its' smooth twist action goes along with...

Real comparison LD01 vs Maratac AAA

I have EDC'd my Fenix LD01 Stainless Steel for two years on a ball chain lanyard and tucked in my shirt pocket. It's a great light and I use it all the time. However, when you get right down to it, the Maratac AAA stainless steel is a better light. The Maratac is smaller and lighter, has a...

    AAA light: fenix vs liteflux

I don't know if I got a defective LF2XT but I could not get the UI right, and returned it. I consider my LD01 SS my little work horse, it is very dependable and a rugged tool. I wear mine on a ball chain lanyard. The Maratac AAA is a fine light for your collection but I don't consider it as...

Who got their LD01 Stainless Steel?

I've been EDCing my Fenix LD01 SS for a number of months now and use Eneloop AAA's in it exclusively. I tried it with a 10440 LiIon and loved the extra brightness. However, the fun of the 10440 is not worth the risk of damage or injury. It is a great little light and I love carrying and using my...

Flashlights you bought this month, August 2009

After a 3 month dry spell and not spending anything on lights, I got the bug. I learned about the Maratac AAA SS then the iTP A3 EOS then the LF2XT which I had to return because the UI wasn't working properly for me. I'm really impressed with the little Maratac, what a great little companion. I...

Hey DeFab- That is an awesome arrangement of some cool illumination tools. You did a great job fabricating the mounting hardware. I'll bet the trail ahead of you looks like daytime. BTW how do you post photos like that with your reply to threads? I just know of using copy & paste photobucket...

    'Compact' THROWER suggestions (under $130)

My vote goes for the Lumapower D-Mini 1 X 123 with the optional D 65 battery tube for an 18650. The D-Mini comes with two reflectors, which is nice because one is for exceptional throw, and it does. I happen to like the looks of the D-Mini with its unique head and natural finish. Even with the...

Lost my EDC need a new one quick

They've already been mentioned. I switch off EDCing LD01 SS, Maratac AAA SS, EZAA, they are all excellent choices. I returned my LF2XT because I couldn't get the UI to work properly. Sounds like the Maratac AAA SS is within your budget after shipping cocts.

What is your most expensive light?

Light Sabre- Although your way may not be so exciting as using pay pal or a credit card to pull the trigger on a pricey addition to the collection, you probably manage to save quite a bit of your funds. I'll bet you research your prospective purchases and don't buy a light and later decide it...
