Who's favorite flashlight is the SureFire Aviator?

Does the latest version run OK on a 16340 cell? They are very expensive now - about £350 new in the UK where you can find them - but I’d get one if it ran on rechargeables

What's your favorite UI design on flashlights?

The rotary knob on CoolFall lights is the best I’ve found so far. The Oveready “first mode change goes to lowest” is reasonable alternative.

    Muyshondt Flieger Review

^^^ the spacer should be to stop the CR123 rattling in the body - they are slimmer than an 18650. Don’t think not having the sleeve will cause you an issue. My Beagle was supposed to come with a sleeve and it didn’t. Disappointing to hear other people Have experienced the same.

Muyshondt Beagle: Seeking Opinions and a question

I still have mine and it is OK - no better than that. I find it amazing that Muyshondt doesn’t say explicitly what the emitters are. When buying a McGizmo or Cool Fall torch you can specify the emitter and it’s temperature, for goodness sake. Why so coy about the Beagle? Battery life is not as...

    New Mahi head

It is also one of the most pleasingly tactile bodies, which I think is under-rated until you experience it. Like you, mine houses a 16650, albeit with a Makai head.

New 1x123 Titanium E-series McClickie Pak and some XP-L (HI) LED's added to the mix

I have the XP-L HI in both a Makai and a Haiku. I would describe it as yellow tint, but just find it very usable. I wouldn’t describe it as green. I have a Hi Cri mule and Haiku (both AA) and don’t find the XP-L worse in daily use. I had an XP=G2 Haiku -managed to blow it - and got the XP-L as...

Think for a moment. What is your favorite flashlight?

Head says “Cool Fall SPY 007” Heart says “Haiku”

McGizmo Standing wave of Sapphire 25's , GS and now High CRI

Same here. Just checked my emails and I bought mine in 2013 (it is a GS)

The LunaSol 20: the new benchmark for EDC lights

Similar to the SPY 007 size. I was advised of the following supplier, which may be of use: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?399475-B-rt-s-Tritium-thread

Cree XP-G2 added to the line - 2014

I fried my XP-G2 Haiku head earlier in the year and finally decided to replace it. Wondering if I should stick with the G2 or go with the XPL-Hi. Don - is the XPL-Hi in the Haiku head deeply set, like the G2 and the 119 Nichia? I find this useful when tailstanding and working close by, less...

Heavy duty hiking and swimming flashlight needed. Preditor or doberman perhaps

No experience of those lights but if I were buying for the proposed uses, I would get a McGizmo Aqua Ram. I would expect any McGizmo or Oveready BOSS to cope with general swimming, and any decent torch to cope with hiking.

    Everyday Carry Copper Lights

I believe “the look” is the only real benefit. Copper is, what, about 3x the density of aluminium so makes for a much less practical EDC option IMO.

Multi brightness flashlight. What's your mode change preference?

Favourite UI is the Rotary knob on the SPY 007 but that is a niche option sadly. Oveready have great programmability and the memory mode is useful

    Everyday Carry Copper Lights

Re: Everyday Carry I have a Prometheus AAA light in copper - as it offers 3 modes instead of 2 - and if it was ANY other metal would be a fantastic light. It is heavy and, worse still, makes my fingers stink after handling it. I can take or leave patina but copper makes my skin smell worse...
