Re: vinhnguyen54 Need Modded Work? 2013 ;-)
Hi Vinh,
Have you worked on:
Fenix TA30?
Streamlight TLR-1?
I would like the emitters in both of these swapped to a 5K neutral XP-E2.
Thanks,
Jackson Chan
Re: vinhnguyen54 Need Modded Work? 2013 ;-)
Just got my Quark 2AA warm white, and Eagletac T10C2 back, both upgraded with XP-G2 5000K neutral emitters.
I didn't like the (XP-G) WW tint the Quark had, so the new neutral emitter is much better. It also throws a little better and is a bit...
Re: vinhnguyen54 Need Modded Work? 2013 ;-)
Vinh,
Just sent out two lights for emitter swap:
1) Quark 2AA Tactical: swap emitter with 5000k neutral XP-G2
2) Eageltac T10C2: swap emitter with 5000k neutral XP-G2
Copy of my previous email and check enclosed.
Thanks,
Jackson Chan
The last time I bought anything Surefire was three years ago, a G3L. Lately I've purchased Solarforce (for P60 host), Eagletac and 4Sevens.
However, my duty lights (LEO) are Surefire, a G2Z with a Malkoff M61N and a 20 year old 6P +solarforce extender with a Dereelight 3 mode neutral dropin...
I had a WF-500 with a HO-R5, and it's a great light.
Here's a thread I started with some pics: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?188161-HO-R5-beamshot-comparison-%2856K-warning%29
I've run mine with an AW 18650 2100mah, Trustfire 2400mah, pair of Ultrafire 18500 unprotected (+1 extender), pair of AW 16340, AW 17670 unprotected, without the symptoms you are describing.
If anyone is looking for the Surefire Z17 Lens kit for the vintage bezels (lexan lens, press fit), Oveready has one left in stock. I picked up two in my last order.

What do you mean by brightest?
How much are you willing to spend?
Do you have mag bodies on hand?
Anything past a ROP low requires aluminum reflectors and glass lenses.

Based on my light box testing, a 5D xenon bulb (2C body and stock reflector/lens) driven by two AW 18650s (4.09v) puts out ~170 lumens and draws 1.01A.
A 6D bulb in the same setup puts out ~127 lumens and draws .93A.
Swapping a FM reflector and borofloat lens, the 5D bulb gets ~238 lumens...
I have a Fenix TA30 solely for it's ability to run off of 2xAA in an emergency. I normally feed it with 2x17500, but keep a good supply of CR123s, AAs and L91 AAs on hand.
