    Suggestions on a new torch

Wide would be nice, but I think I am looking for more throw than wide. I figured AA's are cheap, but I would go through allot of them with that many lumens. I assume 18650's are easier to deal with than CR123's. I have ordered CR123's from Battery Junction before (100 at a time), but I feel that...

    Suggestions on a new torch

Right now I have an Olight M30 Triton that is 700 lumens at full power, they don't make it anymore and I am looking for something better between the size of the triton and say a 4D sized mag light with between 2,000 and 4,000 lumens that takes batteries that are easy to get ahold of. Any...

    High lumen led light strips

I am looking for a manufacturer that makes high lumen RGB light strips for home use. I have seen the 5meter 3528 strips and they are really low. Next there are the 5050 LED light strips, but the SMD 5050 LED's output about 15 lumens per LED depending on the color. I know CREE has supplied some...

    Innovation in headlights

Well I guess they are cheaper than the old glass ones, but the glass does not yellow and get dull as quick as the clear polymer ones do. I actually replace the plastic ones about every 5 years (I keep vehicles about 15 years). I guess that is one thing the DOT does not regulate..... when your...

    Innovation in headlights

I also noticed how small projectors are for the amount of heat that is generated by light sources that use them, I can't imagine it is the best situation. Why are manufacturers using polymers? I would assume polymers are cheaper to use as a material, and they are much easier to mold into the...

    Innovation in headlights

So halogen headlights are what most vehicles use today. Some vehicles have DOT, FMVSS authorized HIDs even through there are people out there that hate them. What happens when these become standard on the market...

Looking for brighter headlights on my truck 9005/9006

I understand that it is marketing hype, then scientifically, how do you describe accurately, the difference between the "light" from a 5500k LED or arch based bulb (HID) to a halogen that claims it is 5500k, where the LED or HID is what is expected (appearance of emitted light at a certain...

Looking for brighter headlights on my truck 9005/9006

Well we know that the human eye see's certain primary colors more predominantly than other colors. Whether it is pyscological or fact, most (not everyone) does not like light were the hue is too far off of what "pure white" is. I will admit I hate really blue lights and really yellow lights...

Looking for brighter headlights on my truck 9005/9006

Thank you for the info on the HIR type 9011 and 9012 bulbs. I am looking up information on them now. Important to me is an accurate Kelvin rating. I prefer 5000-6000k. Expensive Ultra stars (Halogen) look like they are white untill you see a true 5000-6000k set of bulbs.

Looking for brighter headlights on my truck 9005/9006

Re: Replaced the 9005 and 9006's with 6000k HID's but what is the difference in balla I guess I need to clear up a few things: ***list items removed per rule 11*** The main reason allot of us are here is because we have some interest in lighting and how much light we get from devices we...

Custom LED Fogs and Spot lights

I think some manufacturers use the term fog light loosely. I live 60 miles out in the country and have 300 acres, so these lights would only be used on my land in the middle of know where.

Re: Replaced the 9005 and 9006's with 6000k HID's but what is the difference in balla Sorry guys, I have not visited the site in about 2 years. I did not mean to cause a problem with the HID thing. So my understanding that using any type of lighting other than "OEM" filament based bulbs is...

Custom LED Fogs and Spot lights

Looking at making fogs and spot lights. I guess as far as the driving and wide lights that rigid make in that first link, they must not be that good. Even if the pattern is not "ideal" the LED's are are lighting up the road ahead pretty well. I guess what is the difference between being 100%...
