What is the purpose of UV flashlights?

But now we can add some craziness to what UV lights can do... I saw a post on social media (credible, right?) that if you shine a UV light (in the dark of course) on the face of someone who's had Covid vaccines, then little white spots will show up on their face while unvaccinated people will...

    Why round bottoms?

Eons ago, I think it was Bianchi (holsters) that bought the B-Lite flashlight company. Bianchi sold a ton of holsters and police gear so adding a flashlight seemed to make sense. I still have a B-Lite flashlight. It's built as tough or tougher than Maglite. They were incandescent at the time...

    Automatic knives, valid for use?

I love 'em. There are SO many times I had something in my one hand and needed to do a cut with my free hand. An auto makes it so simple and easy to work. All in all, it's simply a "better" tool. Of the several I have, one of my favorites is my letter opener; a Boker Automatic Kalashnikov Mini...

    emergencies comms

That would be a very bad idea. Without at least a Tech license and some experience learning how comms work, you would do more harm than good. Plus, hams take it very badly when someone gets on the air without a license and Fox Hunters like to find those people and turn them in... just for fun...

    What's your ideal watch?

I'll first answer the OP question: My favorite watch is any Citizen EcoDrive that has the Atomic feature (auto time setting from the Denver signal). I inherited a Rolex from my older brother, but I truly do not like that it has to be moved all the time to keep it running. All the Citizen...

    Heresy -- Flashlights are useless

Specifically addressing the OP; note that any flashlight can be a lantern but a lantern can't be a flashlight. Just saying... One of my favorites is my Nitecore LR12. In it's collapsed form, it's a great flashlight or a tailstand lantern bouncing off a ceiling. Then it can be a great "real"...

Best Responsible Resellers for Zebralight With Great Customer Service?

I guess I need to offer my personal experience with Zebralight Irving TX. I ordered a headlamp the middle of this week and got it today, Saturday (near Houston). I immediately got an email of the order and it included the tracking number. So, I have nothing but praise for buying directly from...

Zebralight still the way to go for a AA headlamp?

So wow. The H53fc took only two days to get to me from Irving, TX. And I have to thank you guys for suggesting it. It's twice as bright as my older H50W so great for working under a car. It does not have quite the spread, but it's still quite spready so I have no complaints on that count. I...

Zebralight still the way to go for a AA headlamp?

Well, I took a leap of faith and ordered the H53fc today, so I guess I'll have first hand experience pretty soon.

Zebralight still the way to go for a AA headlamp?

I'm looking at the Zebralights myself (again), but I am confused by how many different models they have now. Can someone point me to whichever AA ZL headlight that is warmish, bright, and sort of floody? I use Eneloops exclusively for power. I had a H50W that I liked, but it got lost in a move...

    Will do. Thanks.

Jet III Pro - ST is failing

Thanks, but I had already shorted the batt to the body to bypass the switch, and the light is still dim. That was the simple part. Do you know where I might get the correct driver? If I can acquire it, I can probably replace it myself. I've done some micro electronic stuff before.

Jet III Pro - ST is failing

I thought I'd ask this question here as much for any help I can get from users as from the company itself. I bought my Jet III Pro-ST about 8 or so years ago. It has been great all that time. It was never my primary light, so I never did put that much time on it, but I found it very useful for...

    Could Use Some Transformer Help

Well then, you can see why I asked for some help. ;) I clearly thought that brightness would depend upon the lights' input voltage. That cleared up, I'm not married to dual brightness. I only thought it would be nice. That might make it even easier because all I really need is a simple 120VAC...

    Could Use Some Transformer Help

Hey all, I can't find any reading lamps that are configured the way I like (from a design and attach standpoint), so I'm rolling my own. The bulbs I've bought are these linked here...
