I was curious about this knife, so I ordered it. Got it today, and it's really nice. Appears to be very well made. Made in the USA by a company called Bear and Son. It's a beast of a knife. Full tang, and the wood is good looking. Came with a pretty decent leather sheath. It's Sandvik 12C27 steel. I don't know much that steel but I've heard its not bad.

I'm pretty impressed with it. Especially since it was just under 100 bucks, and it's made in the USA by a small family business.

Cool!

Looks a lot like the old W49 Western Cutlery Bowie.

Nice, I like it. I'm tempted to get one just to have a classic US knife. What kind of wood?

12C27 is a nice stainless budget steel used in the Morakniv stainless versions.

I love their large, classic Stockman, and Trapper models made from actual carbon steel. Only source I know of for affordable, modern-day, classically made, old-fashioned slip-joints.

That Bowie knife is good-looking. But to be honest, $100 sounds very inexpensive for a large mass of sharpened steel and a well-made sheath to go with it.
