How did you cut the thread for the cable gland in the end cap? did you use any glue on the thread?

I used a tap ( M16 and a 14mm drill bit). You can probably get away with out any sealant although I generally use loctite or JB Weld or Araldite depending on what day of the week it is. I did this on a Thursday so used Loctite.

Maybe. Check the pitch against the gland's. I may be wrong but it appears that one is designed to be used in a lathe/mill/drillpress

I brought mine from a second hand tool shop for 1/5th of the price or less.
