So here are some shots I took of the Coast LED Lenser Lanterns. I know the small one has been around for a while but the Large one is new on the block so I went out and got one. I Like it alot. I took some photos and put it up against a Egear large 12 LED lantern, the small Coast LED Lenser Lantern, the Osram Dragon, and the newer River Rock with the K2 LED.

Interesting. What leds and batteries are inside the Coast lanterns? I don't know much about them. Are they regulated, do you know? Price, where you bought them?

The small Coast looks the same as the Eddie Bauer that Target was clearing out last year. They normally sold for $30, I think. Nice to see it's performing well against the competition. I especially like its dimming capability.

Thanks for the testing, leprechaun.

I'm not sure of the LEDS they use but they refer to them as Lenser, whatever that means. The small uses 4 AAs and the Large uses 4 Ds. I don't know if they are regulated. The small goes for around $40-$50 and the Large goes for $80-100.

I found two small ones on Ebay but it is offered at brightguy.com. for $42.

The large I found for $80 at a site called http://www.lightsandknives.com/productid/647/18/1.html

I know they seem like alot of money but the dimmer is very cool. yuo hold down the power button and it dims both high to low until your desired brightness level. The battery level on the front is great too.

I've seen these two over at the local Fry's Electronics and it's the smaller one that peaks my interest. But at $40.00! ? ! ? !

Enjoy!

I think both designs are very cool. I wonder about the quality of heatsinking inside for long duration burns. Some of the first Cree lanterns being offered have very little, making them poor designs IMHO. But, the price for these lanterns is just too high for me. Too bad, cause I'd probably get both!
