I'm planning out my camping trips and need to figure out how to make some GITD beads to thread on to my tent and canopy guylines, keeping myself and others from tripping on them in the dark. I'm thinking of using glowinc's glow powder mixed into some epoxy and using a hex nut mold formed in some modeling clay to create the "beads" to mark where my lines are.

Anyone else use this method to pour some beads? Buying GITD cord is very expensive for the lengths I need, more than 100 feet, and I figure I need to make about 50 beads.

Will the epoxy beads release from the clay ok? or should I just make some beads free hand on some wax paper?

Thanks for the tips!!

Using a hex nut is a good idea! I would get some Amazing Mold Putty and make a few molds from that. It is real easy to use and its silicone so the epoxy mixture just pops out easily.

http://www.amazingmoldputty.com/ here is a link with a video

Michaels carries it as does Joanns. It is fairly commom stuff.
