Newly Enlightened
I have been using an 8mm boring bar for year in my own home made temporary holder that was going to be used once and then something more adept made up. As usual with me this never happened.
I received this kit for a modest fee to try out from kiribu-ru.
My lathe uses tooling a lot larger than the hobby lathes this tool holder is meant for so a 10mm packer was used under the tool holder to get it on a good height to drill the hole through it.
My boring bar cutting edge is 4mm from the base so where I drilled the 8mm hole the tool will be on centre.
There is a scribed line on both ends to centre the drill before drilling commences. This picture shows the scribed line and the drill bit about to cut through the far end.
With the boring bar in its new home a facing cut was taken to check the centre height. Needless to say it was perfect.
Overall i'm very happy with the new tool holder. I just need a few more sizes now. :twothumbs
