What watch you're wearing?

Have heard rumors that a Citizen Eco-Drive solar battery is good for a minimum of 10 years, max. of 20 years. But the one in my BM7080-03E is still going strong over 20 years later. Plus, best part is, unless the power reserve is down to 0% the light can be recharged with a very bright flashlight. Surprised that Citizen models aren't more popular on CPF than they are.

Honestly the reason I started my time peice craze, I got contracted to do an armed security gig at a jewelry place years ago while some relative of one of the big wigs for the Las Vegas casinos was having ear rings made. I was wearing a Timex watch that the battery would die often. It was pretty but not reliable. The sales gal showed me citizen time pieces and I was hooked. I think now my oldest watch is almost 20 years old now. Still runs like a champ and still links up with the satellite to make sure the time is right .

If the battery in your Timex was dying that often, the watch was definitely defective.

My eco drive watches are between 12 and 15 years old.

Some quartz watches are are battery hogs. Some use a battery that doesn't hold a lot of fuel. I have one quartz watch that kills a battery in 3-6 months. My others can go 2-10 years on a battery.

I totally agree, especially since you can charge with a flashlight. It's one of the many reasons I got this Citizen Eco-Drive BM8180-03E with the main one being it would be a literal decade before I have to even think about replacing the battery.

Linen, mmmmmmm

The Geneve series were built in Switzerland and meant for European and South American markets.
In 1957-1960 some of them were slightly modified for the US market.

My Momemtum M1 Pro is down right now, needs a new battery, so I fired up my trusty Timex Chrono. Bought in 2000 when I got my first real I.T. job (that I still have!)
Currently on a Maratac Bond Nato strap.

The window at 9 o'clock is actually more than a "fuel meter". The red hand points to the Bluetooth symbol when the watch is connected to my phone. This happens automatically every 6 hours (if they are in BT range) for time synchronization. I am sorry that the minute hand blocs the WT symbol for world time, ST for stopwatch, TR for timer and AL for alarm. They would be visible if I had taken the picture a few minutes later. Besides, I could shift both hands temporarily so as to clear both windows by pressing two buttons simultaneously but please don't ask me which combination of two buttons out of four!
