I was just reading the December 2002 issue of Reader's Digest and came across this story where a flashlight saved the lives of 3 men. Basically, a daughter bought her dad a waterproof flashlight for Christmas. He was in his tugboat with 2 other people after towing some barges when the weather suddenly changed. The wind was picking up and the wind-chill factor was -45F. Their tugboat started taking on water and they made a distress call to the Coast Guard. Somebody on land was listening to the radio transmissions and knew that the Coast Guard wouldn't reach them in time so he and two other lobstermen took their boat to try and find them in the bad weather. They heard the last transmission from the tugboat which said that they were going into the water. The 3 lobstermen were about to give up hope when they saw a strange light through the sea smoke. They went closer to the source and found the 3 men with their arms linked together. The flashlight that the daughter bought for her dad was frozen to the back of his glove. If you want to read the whole story, it's on page 110-111. Just thought I'd share this with the forum.
