Quite nice indeed!

I don't think I know anything about an Osram 64658.
You don't by chance mean the 90w 64458, do you?

I notice these fluted heads appearing again.
It would be great if some nice heads were available on their own.

I'll take a 16AA battery holder, assuming you'll sell one without a light.

$52 including shipping? Confirm and I'll Paypal immediately.

WOW a Mag 64458!

An OSRAM 64458 driving at 19.2V (16 AA 1.2V) is about 8500 predicted Lumens and would make this new FM torch like number six on Lux's current list of most powerful flashlights. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/177171

I wish this had been available a couple of years ago when when I built my Mag 64458 with a FM3V-2. :mecry:

Fivemega,

Will you sell a battery holder without the flashlight?

If this really does put out close to 8500 lumens, it is a great price for that sort of output. Very, very tempting. Any idea on runtime? This one should light paper from a foot away!

That's true. You can feel the heat from 10 feet away.
Run time is about 8 minutes.

I was thinking of doing a mag 458 build based on enelopes and a search for hosts led me here, and wow just what I need, almost, but a few questions. This is alot of money so I want to make sure I get what I want.

I have seen on other of your posts that you don't do custom requests, but do you have any black quad bored mags laying around?

I'm liking the concept but I am not attracted to the bright colors for use at work. The candy colored lights look cool and I'd like to have one, but for this build I am trying to use low key colors. I like the texturing but would accept a black mag without it as long as it was bored.

I will be using this in some security applications, I'm a patrol driver for a security Company (got laid off from my machinist job a while back).

I will need this at times to light up long alleys, fields etc. and black is my color of choice for equipment. Chrome is tempting too since it's not too candy colored., but shiny things left on car seats have a way of dissapearing, and the weight of this with batteries means it is not going very far from the car. I have my mag 85 for that. This will be used as a portable spotlight at work and when fishing (which makes chrome or nickel look attractive also but..I'l make sure it doesn't get wet. The axial filiment should make a sweet hotspot with the right reflector choices, but I'd also like to be able to flood with it situationally if possible.

Does the switch retain cam focus-ablility after your mod?

Also, You said;

You will need high current cells like Elite 1700 or Titanium 1800.
Does "like" include Eneloops? or does this mean that at higher voltages eneloops become a liability? I'm hoping they are one of the "like" these cells choices not on the list.

My preference for eneloops is based mostly on the fact that I can charge them and put them away, later they are hot when I need them down the road, but I don't want to buy a bunch of em if it's the wrong choice.

I plan to use the light only for 5-10 seconds at a time (most of the time but not all), but fairly frequently. Of course I'd want the full current. If I had the AW switch I might take it on some walking patrols too and use the lower powers and handhold it (heavy for loop, and bulky if I get the 2.5" FM head))

Is there also a discount on the 2.5 head (chrome or no chrome) with light purchase as with the 3"? if so does it apply to a black head as well? or just the chrome ones?

Before I saw your thread here I was thinking black quad bore 16 Enelopes, AW switch, and BOTH stock and FM2.5 head.
I lose cam focus with the aw switch but its still a nice build concept to me, so I'd even consider buying just the bored stock tube/head w/o the switch if it lowers the price (unless the switch is focusable), and of course bulbs, Batt. holder. lense, and FM2.5 head.

I realize I'm treading a bit on your as-is policy by even asking this. But, it doesn't hurt to ask if you've got some junk laying around the shop you might want to sell, that only a guy like me might be interested in.

Maybe my last post is too long-winded for you to bother with. Let me break my main questions down.

Is there any stock of any Black quad bored 4d mag?

Does the mod'd switch you make retain focus-ability?

Do you offer a discount on the chrome 2.5" head with light purchase as with the 3" head?

Don't even think of pulling 10 Amps from Eneloops. Won't work.

Is there any stock of any Black quad bored 4d mag?
Sorry,
If it's not listed, it's not available.

Not quick cam action focusing but still focusable by turning head.

Discount prices are applied on 4th of July sale.
