This thread is for folks who want to know if the newest 3100 3400 will also fit (actually slide inside) their current/potential setup.

Please reply to this thread with cell/body combinations you have tested or links to posts where someone else has. Or consider inviting them to post here:

AW 2600 are thicker than more modern 3100/3400 chemistries. In our experience, 90%+ still fit OR and TL bodies, but each cell must be hand tested.

Some 3400mah 18650 batteries don't fit the TL bodies.

Thanks!
I edited my post, now that we have the more useful new fitment thread.

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

Thanks for the heads up. There are variations between the brands. Lets turn this into a fitment guide where folks can report what works (and what doesn't), for easy reference.

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

for clarification, aren't the Orbtronics made by Keeppower? if you put Orbtronic on there, you oughta add Redilast and Intl-outdoor imo

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

This is just a beginning, to have true value, we need to add as many cell/light combinations as possible. I have only so many myself. I've already invited Redilast.

If it proves useful, we can move it to the battery section.

Aw, man. Was hoping the new 18650-3400 would fit the Triple Copper E2E. :(

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

According to AW the 18650-3400 is pretty much the same diameter as the 18650-3100. In fact, according to the Panasonic specs, it's a fraction of a millimeter smaller.

Are you sure they won't fit the Triple Copper E2e? The 3100 fits for sure.

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

Wouldn't it be more efficient and useful to simply list the dimensions of the cells?

Add the dimensions of the lights' cell chambers, and we could then apply the info to new combinations?

For example, if Cell A is X by Y, and fits Lights A, B, C, D

And new unknown fitment cell is X minus anything and Y minus anything...it will ALSO fit lights A, B C, D...and so forth.

If Cell Z is W by T, and DOESN'T fit Lights blah blah blah...then any cells that size or larger won't either...and so forth.

After a few examples are gathered...the dimensions will become applicable more broadly.

Make sense?

:D

All we'd need to do is ADD the cell dimensions when we list it's compatibility...to enable new applications.

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

According to AW...

Same construction on both cell types. Production tolerance is 0.08mm

Diameter according to Panasonic data sheet.

3100....18.6mm
3400....18.5mm

Yes, if it was that easy. We're talking about differences in thickness that can be smaller than a label, smaller than even the margin of tolerance. Even with the same cell, the outer wrapper of a protected cell is as much as a 10th of a mm around one section vs another. Then the label, then which section of the wrapper the label is covering. It is to many variables to cover with to large a range on those variables, fitting into to small a window (.001-.009mm) of what will work.

Thats the point of this thread. Only those combinations that are actually tested will be listed.

The 3400's I have tested do not fit into at least 75% of the bored E2 bodies I have tried - with the label removed.

3100's fit fine. 2900's fit fine. Most 2600's (which vary more) fit fine.

I know they're not 3400 mAh, but I think it's still worth noting.

My Keeppower 3100 mAh are a firm fit in both Malkoff MD2 and MD3 with the silver labels removed.

Re: 18650/3400 Fitment Guide

Wow, yeah, I would call that 'doesn't fit'.

MD2 and 3's are both testing well with the AW34s, which are shown to be thicker than the AW31's.

Um, if there's that kind of variation tolerance, than you can't really expect to apply what fit in someone else's light to your light. That would then defeat the purpose of wanting that info in the first place.

:D

If you take a caliper and measure the inside diameter of your cell chamber...cells the same diameter or larger will be too tight/not fit. If you personally want a certain amount of clearance, say enough to accommodate the very tolerances in production the same cells you mention...then take that into account.

If you don't have a caliper, but you see that your light is listed as fitting a cell that has X size, and you see other lights that take X size, the cells for THOSE lights should fit yours too, and so forth.

This is why I say we should list the cell sizes when we list a cell...it gives the ability to cross reference the cells and lights, w/o needing to necessarily put a particular cell into a particular light.

The idea of doing that is of course how you GET the initial data...but, the data gathered WILL be much more easily used if the measurements go with it.

Also, does the 18650 B cell KeepPower 3400 fit inside an OR bored 6P and 9P? As well as the A19 extender?

My Redilast 3400 does not fit in my MD2. Looks like I need to order up some AWs.

Just got 2 of the IntOutdoor 3400's... They will not fit my Oveready Z2's... nor will they fit my other 2 bored Z2's (unsure who bored them)... Guess I will be ordering some AW 3400's =-(

Cleaned all the residual adhesive off the cells with alcohol, almost dropping out with a good shake.
