In the interests of full disclosure I decided to publish here the results of lights I have been measuring in the recent past. This is nowhere near as many as I have tested in the past. I just have not always kept such good records but it is now part of my routine to test and record. The idea is to provide others with a good idea of how my setup reads. I will say that this is far from ideal statistically as each light measurement listed is one sample except for some OMG and OneStopThrowShop production lights. No way to know where exactly the light I purchased falls in the overall performance range of the product line. Ideally I could test 10 units of each light as that is what I have found to be reasonably representative of the typical performance when averaged. ANSI only requires 3 units to publish a figure which I find beyond absurd. So take these single unit figures(except where listed) with a grain of salt.

Where possible I will provide the spec listed by the manufacturer, my measurement of the stock light, and then my measurement of the light modified by me if applicable.

For those who may wonder I test my lights at a distance of about 8 meters between two fixed points in my house. The distance used is the farthest where I can still read the meter but also is "tuned" to allow the meter to read the actual number without the need to calculate or have a correction factor. The peak reading is taken between 30 sec to a minute after turn-on. The light must be at room temperature. So if it has been handled a bit or run some and is slightly warm I let it sit to fall back to ambient before taking a final measurement.

Lights below this line are known to be tested on the latest setup. I believe the numbers below to be slightly more conservative than the above numbers but have no way of knowing absolutely as the previous meter died from years of testing :) The new meter and setup is what I refer to as "protocol C" which can be seen on the Certification cards supplied with OMG Lumens and some OneStopThrowShop products.

Thanks guys. Just added one more and it's a biggie. Literally. The Olight SR95S UT. Manufacturer rates it as 250Kcd. I measured my sample at 269Kcd.

ROLL TIDE!
"Dereelight Xsearcher XML 2MT-M 102Kcd stock /modified with XPG2 gave 284Kcd /Got 370Kcd with the XPE2/"

So it would seem that the XP-E2 is worth about 30% throw over the XP-G2. Interesting. Something tells me we may see an XP-E2 make it's way into a DEFT-X at some point.

I see you got 182k with the stock ez900 led in the xsearcher. i dedomed my ez900 led and the throw has increased by a lot with a warmer color. im not sure if you measuered a dedomed ez900 in Xsearcher before but could you give a guess of what kind of lux im getting?

Well that would be the very definition of a pencil beam;) That said I'd guess it would be somewhere between 350 and 400Kcd.

When you get a chance, I would be interested in what your testbed setup looks like. In particular, which model of Photometer used, if it is calibrated for Photopic CIE standard, how you make a valid adjustment for various LED wavelengths, etc. For others reading my query, this quick PDF gives some background on why this is an important issue, yet rarely is discussed. Suffice it to say that the more accurate method is to use a spectroradiometer....except for the $$$.
