Very nice looking - The NiteEye looks DIY, but what about the Sportac?

GITD subforum
Painted the insert legs. I have 4 more carclo lenses and plan to buy 4 more sportac p60s and build SF hosts with different beams and glow color. The paint used is glow Inc and has to be painted in layers for optimal glow. I added more layers to the eye 15. Ill post pics once it dries. The sportac looks amazing doesn't it ? Can't wait to do more colors.

Looks good. I love the glow. Just ordered some of that glow vinyl to test out and put around the leds. If that is a Sport Tac DIY glow on the triple how did you do it? Meaning, how did you open it? They looks sealed up pretty well.

Just a ring with opposite slots. Used Roach clips on either side and unscrewed. Carefully removed lens, painted each bottom leg with one tear drop of paint let it set for 3 hours and put it all back together. I don't use stickers I like paint lol

Here is my maglite glowing. The led in it is weak sauce only 100± lumen so glow is sucky.

Very good idea. I like the results in your pics. Sounds feasible for me.

I have a plethora of glow paints and powders and various epoxies. I am sorta a glow freak. I even have 500 glow o-rings of various sizes. Some rings glow well, some are kinda lame. lol I try and make everything glow. I even did my dogs collar. It was awesome, until she decided she didn't like my handy work and chewed it one-day.

I did a maglite too. I used the powder epoxy mix. I had a TerraLUX laying around to play with. So, with the bulb removed, I put it all around the led bulb. I ended up doing it too thick in some places. So I sanded it down to make it fit through the silver ring. Worked pretty well. Only issue is where I put the mix thicker on one side of the led. So it glows just a tad brighter. Oh, also, I put a micro drop of olive oil on my finger, and then touch the led dome (and any other areas I don't want glow epoxy) first. That keeps any of the epoxy from accidentally sticking to the led. Keeping me from having to Dedome.

sal415!! stop the madness! lol That is slick. I may try and dig mine out tomorrow and take some pics. They aren't as nice as yalls, but I can get there! lol I am so gonna steal your idea of filling the indentions of the bezel ring. I have both those powders the green & blue. I may try that same combo. It really looks sharp. Thanks for the post & ideas.

This is awesome!!! I have done this to my sportac too!! I would like to experiment with different colors as well!!

How has the paint worked out for you?

Thx,
Matt
The paint from glow Inc is different. It is water based, I supposed I should look into acrylic. It doesn't go on smooth like normal paint you dab it on in layers. The more layers the stronger the glow ! Know what's cool is if you put some lain in your hand and rib your hands together the powder from the paint starts to spread all over then you have speckling glow skin Haha.

I am going to try diluting some paint with water to see if I can get it to go on smooth it may not work due to the powder but I still would like to try it.

BTW love the pics guys, lets keep em comming.
