Hi Raggie! Is that the multicolor lantern that I saw at Wally World? I don't remember the brand but I do recall the 1000 lumen claim.

yeah they say multi color but its just has a white led and red .I like it a lot doing a runtime test now its been on high for 2 days and still has light but no where near the original

4 quality alkaline D cells are somewhat comparable to 4 3100ma 18650s.
4 Tenergy 8000 - 10,000 mah D cell NiMH are more comparable to 4 - 18650s.

My Fenix TK35 will blow through 2 18650s at about 1000lm in about 1.5 hours. So I could figure on 3 hours with a change of cells.

Therefore the 1000 lm claim for 8 hours, has to be the ANSI claim, (down to 10%, or IE in this case 100 lumens.)

I had done a run-time test and calculated/estimated LED output levels for a 3D $15 Ozark Trail lantern
Initially the lantern pulled 700 ma high, and 390 ma low. ~210 lumens, and 130 lumens.
At the end of the first hour it was down to about 175 lumens
And at the end of the fifth hour it was just above 120 lumens.
For the seventh through seventeenth hours it was between 100 and 110 lumens.
Hours 18-28 it was between 80-95 lumens.
Hours 29-40 were between 70-80 lumens.

-------------------------------------
Its my understanding that adding a fourth D cell, won't increase the run-time, but may increase the brightness a bit, especially as the voltage drops off. In fact with some testing I had done. It seemed that the higher voltage of the additional battery cased an increase in loss of energy as heat, while maintaining a higher voltage, linking to a higher amperage demand on the batteries, depleting them faster. So there was a higher output for a longer period of time, and a faster depletion of the batteries.

I got that Bushnell 1000 lumen lantern awhile ago. I don't think it is 1000 lumens. It is definitely over 500 lumens and has a 200 lumen flashlight (It's at least 150 lumens) that can run at the same time. I wonder if the 1000 lumen claim is the lantern and flashlight run together? The light is definitely a decent light and the brightness setting (8 settings plus red) and the flashlight are nice features. It's nice to see l.e.d. lanterns approaching the needed brightness to replace a propane lantern for camping, especially in areas prone to wildfires where gas lanterns and fires can be banned. If I need something brighter for camping though, I'll bring my 1700 lumen l.e.d. Ryobi floodlight and a couple 4 amp 18 volt li-ion batteries (3.5 hours runtime each). My 12 volt Milwaukee lantern does pretty good for camping as well at 400 lumens (with 85 CRI l.e.d.s), the ability to go from 180 degree area light to 360 degree lantern, and has a U.S.B. port for charging a cell phone in an emergency.
