So I've had my eye on this lens for a little while now, a Canon EF-S 24mm f2.8 STM "pancake" lens, for my T5. I had intended to wait and get it as a birthday present to myself, but when it went on sale ($129 from $149) I snapped it up.

It's VERY small and light. I had been using a 24-105mm STM lens, which is excellent, but definitely chunky when carrying it around and trying to fit it into my backpack.

A somewhat under-advertised feature (at least in reviews I read) is the macro or near-macro ability of this lens. It says about 5 inches in the specs; in practice, you can have the subject maybe 3" or so from the front of the lens. Below are a couple shots at f2.8 (which results in a paper-thin depth of field at that close distance and aperture). The glass on that Quark XM-L is a bit cloudy but you get the idea.

Looking forward to using this lens outside if it will ever stop raining!! :banghead: (Maybe after Thursday I'll get some outdoor shots)
